I built a couple years ago. I cant remember the brand, but they were pretty cheap.I ended up replacing some of the components.It was laser cut and some pieces were badly warped.I also ended up replacing some of the other materials (siding and roofing tiles) as they were pretty awful.

You could have a look on the Hobbies website (alwayshobbies.com) and also on the Hobby's website too, they both have a huge range of dolls house kits and accessories, the smallest ones like the Southwold Corner Shop start at £49.95, the chalet-like Retreat is £59.95 and the 2 story Exmouth is £89.99 and the bigger ones go on up from there! They also do sets of plans for the DIY'ers! (the fools!)

Hi all, thanks for the info.

I managed to scrounge together most of the parts for a house, managed to get the del prado version with 99% part for £40.

So after buying other bits and piece it cost me about £100.

Also sorry I've not been around lately, come the winter months I stop building models and head in doors to do my other hobby of cross stitching.

The workshop get really cold even with a heater, and having a damaged knee, hip, shoulder all on the left doesn't help as the cold really effects them.

So In doors I go

But I've managed this week to get out there and do some of this dolls house as I can just pop in quickly and then back once my parts start to complain

So as most of you know this kit came with printed doors

I wanted to change them.

First I had to work out how and what I need to remove from the kit.



Then remove the section of the printed panel.



In order to achieve this.

I'm not going whole hog on this as I'm going to be giving this away once finished, I just wanted to build a dolls house and not having kids never had an excuse to do it.

So I won't be adding extras I'll leave that for them to do, I'm not worried about hiding the light wires which if I was doing this for myself I might have routed out the ceiling to hide them. No stairs so if they want them later they can do it or I'll do it but with the doors there not enough space from front to back to make them work.

So this will be a simple build and paint and then give to out neighbours.

Very nice work, something totally different. definitely an improvement on those printed doors.

So Second floor added.





Replacement door added and only opens into the bathroom.




This door at the moment opens to nowhere.




It will hopefully open to the roof of the extension.

Looks amazing so far and good luck with the roof. :)
