Hi everyone, bit late to the party. Had another partwork on the go, so had to wait. I am completely repainting this to resemble the studio scale model. Not much info on Red 5 out there, so it will be as close as I can to it. I am sticking with the stock electrics/lights. Even thou I'm only upto issue 11 you do get an idea of the size and its big. There is a lot of colours on studio model, Red, blue, grey (various shades) yellow, green and tan. Started of with everything painted in grey primer then I have used Tamiya Lacquer LP-34 (or AS16 spray can) as the base colour A few pics below to show where I'm upto. Will do more weathering as I go. Hope you enjoy. Spudtrooper37 attached the following image(s): Darren

I found this to indicate where the colours go, I am compiling a list of Tamiya paints I am using. This will be updated as I go. Spudtrooper37 attached the following image(s): Darren

I had noticed on a few builds I'd seen that there was a lot of light bleed on the canons. 1. At the base. 2. Where the two aluminium tubes join. 3. The end part. I had resolved 1 & 2 with black paint to the inside parts. Regards the end I was thinking of putting tape around the optic fibre but then I came across a great solution on YouTube, this person had used a toslink cable. I don't have the end part of the Canon yet but the pictures below will give an idea of how it works and it is a lot better than the stock part. You just need to buy a cheap one because these are thin cables, I bought a 5m for £6 of amazon. Just cut of the ends and use the length that is required. It looks fantastic.Re color references google "jason Eaton".He just finished a red 5 x-wing and this guy has had access to the ILM vault where the original models are kept so his red 5 is probably as close to the filming version as you get.I beleive he custom mixes his colors so cant give you specific color recommendations, but his work is just incredible.
I used those optical cables on my Deagostine x wing.

I now have my sublight engines working and a bit more weathering, I think I am at a point where I am happy for now. So I won't be posting anything really for a while, my next delivery date is roughly 20th April and the will consist of finishing the underside of this wing and the start of the next wing. So until then keep safe everyone Spudtrooper37 attached the following image(s): Darren
