I have 3-4-5 builds on the forum at present. (I'm not really sure how many)
All good fun anyway.

Currently working on the Bismarck and Spitfire. Oz based builder so we're a few months behind...the rest of the world. As with all my models I prefer the weathered look. :-)

Completed the Deagostini Falcon and R2, also very enjoyable builds.

And on a completely different side note. I built a Tamiya Lancaster recently and stuck a computer in it to drive the lighting and motors and sound.

I only stick to big stuff now due to my age and poor eyesight, so hopefully Deagostini and others will keep putting these great kits out there for us Aussie builders.

BUILDING: Taking a break / Waiting for the next epic build to be released

COMPLETED: Hachette Spitfire, Hachette Bismarck, Deagostini Millennium Falcon, Deagostini R2-D2

Some epic models there S4Simon! I also built and completed r2d2, he's great! I also recently finished the super snake Mustang GT500 from Agora.

I'm currently building Ecto-1 from eaglemoss, the GT40 from here (love these 2 kits), the Bismarck from hachette and just started collecting the GISS Eleanor Mustang from eaglemoss (build planned to start next year sometime for me). I also collect and forward on the t800 terminator for a friend who moved abroad.
Building:
Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra
Complete:
R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

There are some sweet builds up there! I will occasionally post something, under my 'Experten" handle, but in all honesty, I feel that these boards are for all you guys. I build, and collect. More of the latter these days, I am afraid, but my stash would be the envy of any hobby shop!

Stay well,

Mark

Im currently doing the Tirpitz on the forum. I only tend to do one at a time. Have many to build but no time to do them lol. Many very large ships to do but am looking to move to Cornwall in a couple years so not going to start anything too big.

Chris
On the bench

1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Hi all,

Sorry for the long one but once the flow started it became cathartic.

I too am doing only De-Ag at the moment.

For a bit of background my dear old dad has been building ship models for 40+ years starting with a Billings kit of the Danmark when I was 11.

He's still got it on display alongside a Mersey flat and a plank built Bismarck (Hachette's first release one I think).

For a while he switched to radio control and his pride and joy are a three foot Mersey docks harbour tug complete with a floating wharf with crane and cargo and a four foot WW2 corvette that he scratch built based off photos and some ships architect plans he found in an old library book. The Corvettes bow wake and froth from the brass props spinning at full steam ahead on a local boating pond have often raised eyebrows with the speed boat builders and frightened a lot of ducks.

I digressed.

Having never touched anything more than an airfix kit before four years ago I was given the first issue of R2D2 as a joke birthday present by a mate who hadn't realised it would be a 100 issue £ 900 mini beast in the end.

Not long after that I found this forum and the official build videos on you-tube and have been hooked on the hobby ever since.

I'm not brave enough to do a diary, I stick to the as per book instructions as my cutting, gluing and painting skills are not that great, although I am slowly getting better.

I'd rather look on in awe at the amazing builds displayed in here than present my p*** poor efforts.

Anyway, having finished R2 I was fully bitten by the build bug and when X-wing came out I signed up for that the week it was released swiftly followed by Thunderbird 2 because, well why not.

When the first Lockdown came in last year, and having been very impressed with all the Falcon builds in here, I also got onto that as I had time spare and no petrol bill for getting to work.

I'm currently in two minds over starting the re-release Bismarck from Agora or building a 00 gauge railway sidings display but with £ 130 a month skin in the game I'm holding off deciding that until X-Wing and T-bird come to an end in a few months.

Progress to date:

X-Wing - due to all the early delivery issues I'm just now up to issue 70 built and 71-75 due to arrive any day.

T-Bird - pack 10 is built, pack 11 due next month and I realise I need a decent display case / diorama ? for all the miniatures !!!

Falcon - I'm up to Issue 40 and have invested in a cheap USB powered airbrush kit to have a dip of my toe into the water doing the hull recess painting.

Loving all the high class build diaries in here by the way and if Mark Warren is reading, "please sir! may we have some more of the official build X-Wing.." please, please …

I'm sure I'm not alone in being almost caught up with where it left off a year ago and your excellent diary work has saved me from many schoolboy errors so far.

To all you other steely eyed model men out there stay safe and keep posting.
Built - R2D2, Thunderbird 2, X-Wing / WAS Building(Ha!)- Bailed after eight months without pack 15 - Millenium Falcon

@BMWiggins;

The Official Builds are stalled for the moment in the UK, as I cannot get Italy to ship the parts. It is not for want of trying!

Time permitting, I’m still working on the Porsche 911.

I technically have a few Jag E-Type parts scattered about my desk, but I’m trying to collect a few more upgrades before really kicking things off.

I’ve been working on the Model Factory Hiro Bugatti T35. It’s a birthday gift for my father. Although, I haven’t touched it in weeks. My mojo is totally absent. There is just a little “too much life” going on.

Stay well,

Been spending all my modelling time on the victory ,really enjoying it so far didn't even get bored cutting and lining the gun ports.

I'm still working my way through my 1/100 scale DelPrado HMS Victory bit by bit (18 years and counting - I keep getting waylaid into other projects!) Will also be starting the fantastic DeAgostini 1/8th Ferrari 312 T4 very shortly and also a small diorama based on a scene from a favourite film of mine to be entitled "Let him go - You Filth!"
For the future I've got three Paper/Card model kits which I want to try and convert into styrene plastic models: one small one for starters and one medium which is practice for the third one which is huge!(Well, over three feet long anyway!)

Robin.

I don't know where you guys get the time, or space, to work on more than one model at a time.
Perhaps it's just my bad management but I seem to have little areas all over the place with just HMS Victory bits and pieces laid out plus all the tools and machinery that are "absolutely essential" to the build.
I keep telling my wife that all the machinery etc is an "investment". She replies with "What, just like the cars you've had over the years?"
Can't argue with her there. Blushing Blushing

Haha I used to “invest” in cars. Owned everything from Benz’s to BMWs to a Saab. The “investments” finally taught me to move to a city with cheap public transit

Then, I grew up and made the “wise” financial decision to shift my car budget to my modeling budget BigGrin

I guess it’s really no wonder why I’m still single haha. I’m still exactly as financially responsible as I was when I was 15.
