I was going to start another cutaway build but instead I've gone with this, I brought this second hand and I know I'm missing a couple of piece but I can replace them as and went needed.

Its called Combat Place or Between Decks but I like the sound of Battle Stations...





Scale is 1/23

It comes with a big instruction manual about the same as the stage coach, plus a massive double side sheet.

First up was to make 3 frames for the main unit.





Each one has to have two holes drilled so you can add some dowel to help support the joints, I just used cocktail sticks why waste a good dowel.

Following day fitted the upper beams.

Another interesting build. The scope for these is endless. Looking forward to your next update.

Well I’ve got to where the other person got to and I can see why he gave up.

The inner uprights that sit between the outer and middle uprights are to small, where the manufacture has cut them they didn’t take into account the added distance to the top of the uprights.

I’ll post photos tomorrow, spent most of the day helping a friend that’s designed and made a stand for building 1/12 scale bikes like the Tamiya ones.

Then I got about an hour look in on this.

So I've simple pinned some scrap wood to the top and bottom so I can get the uprights to sit flush.




Which give me a slight lip to push the beams up to.




And with the upright beam sitting against the bottom cross beam this is the gap left.



All I've done is glued the bottoms in place and waited then add a small piece of scrap wood to push into the gap with glue, which at the moment is drying.

If you look in the background of the last photo you can see where the manufacture made there mistake as I see it they made these the same hight as the other uprights instead of adding 1.5mm to them.

Either way work, up I prefer to have the cross beam level so when I add the upper beam section it can glue to the whole length instead of just 3 points.

This kit already seems to have its own challenges, but nothing you can’t sort out with your experience. . It shows the value of the forum to beginners though by gaining knowledge from experienced modellers such as yourself.
