This area has gone really quiet... Please - add a bit of info on what you do apart from model making... Personally, I'm into music. I now play in a duo locally after years of being in bands and gigging literally everywhere. Here's a clip of a rehearsal - remember, it's a PRACTICE - so excuse the dodgy bits... https://www.facebook.com.../videos/242618990475342

Wow, what an impressive group of people. Thanks for this thread.
My other (main) hobby is woodworking. Furniture, etc. I also like to tinker with my old jaguar that is on the other thread and am a history nut...dogs are up there two. Currently a long haired German Shepard and a 57 variety dog. I have two kids, one a junior in College and one a Junior in High School...
In my day job, I manage some of the engineering research pursuits at Carnegie Mellon University. My background has been in technology in various industries over the years.

This one has gone quiet lately (or just lost in the long list of posts...) What ELSE do you chaps and chapesses do apart from gluing/screwing bits of metal and plastic together? Anyone here 'famous' for anything? Published? Art sold? Model commissions? Hobbies? ANYTHING not really kit related? Let us all hear about it. If you want a GOOD GIGGLE at yours truly - have a peep here... https://www.facebook.com.../videos/440612160647586

Wow you lot are very talented I feel so small... Myself I’m still working, still have some years to go before I can look at retirement I work in retail for a large company (no names) which isn’t the nicest place to work with some customers that treat you like a slave or a piece of dirt on there shoe or a company that just sees you as a number not a person even after 21yrs. I have two main hobby’s yes model making is one the other is cross stitching (ok who’s the one that started laughing) been doing both of these since I was a small boy. I’ll pop some pictures up of my cross stitching if your interested. My Favourite Building:- 1919 https://forum.model-spac...=339517&#post339517 -

I used to play a trumpet and cornet in a marching brass band in my younger years. Featured in the local newspaper many times even making frot page 1 time in a remembrance day parade - playing the last post in the local cenotaph. Also met the Queen twice through various engagements. Played at some epic places around the world and Europe too, the most memorable moments being central Park in New York and the war cemeteries of belgium, including taking part in the daily memorial at the menin Gate in Ypres. Very special. Now I enjoy scuba diving when away on holidays in sunnier climes - too cold in this country for me, I hold a padi open water licence. Like mustang, I'm still way too young for retirement but nearing my late 30s, so with working - I do a relentless 3 shift pattern working for rolls royce building large jet engines - what you see on long haul planes such as the dreamlike.... it doesn't leave much time for other hobbies but I do enjoy getting stuck into a good playstation game (my console of choice), usually single player cinematic story driven action/adventure games. For those in the know I like games such as the uncharted series (a bit like tomb raider), god of war and the last of us as examples. Regards Trev HI Trev, as you asked so nicely. Here's a couple of designs I've done, this is what I do over the winter months. These I did for my Aunt and Uncle and one for my cousins wife after he was killed in a RTA some years ago know, They liked them so much they asked for one of each design so I had to do them both twice. The frames are also willow. My Favourite Building:- 1919 https://forum.model-spac...=339517&#post339517 -

WOW Ian, that is some serious art there. Very well done. If those are your designs then a salute to your skills is presented. I did a bit of cross stitch years ago (nothing as involved as this) and it was quite fun.
Happy Easter,
wyatt

You get to an age where the question 'What do you do' can be difficult to describe. I've always loved building models, started in the early 70's and haven't stopped, although the ones I build these days have to be on the larger scale due to deteriorating eyesight. This love of model building led to my first job. I completed 15 years with the Australian Air Force. I actually joined the air force to work on planes, but in those 15 years never got to work on one. I became a guidance system specialist so every time I got posted I went straight to the workshops. I became so good at it that I was picked up by a US Defence company and then spent 10 years living in London working in over 25 countries around Europe, the Middle East and Far East fixing guidance systems. Got tired of that and came back to Australia. I now modernise Air Traffic Control Towers around Australia, ripping out the old 70's infrastructure and installing new multi touch screen consoles, usually 5 consoles per tower (these replace the old single bench where they stand at in the pic below). Now they get to sit in comfort. In my down time I also install facial recognition and behavioural analytic systems at government agencies around Oz. I've attached some pics of the good ol' times in the RAAF. I always had my camera close on the base so was able to capture a lot of good stuff - 100's of photos. Plus a shot of my business travels with the family - did a lot of work the for the military in the Middle East. The last is a shot of one of my towers. Old long bench about to be removed and replaced with 5 flashy new consoles. The new consoles are placed around the periphery. Now I'm just looking forward to retirement... and more model building. :-) BUILDING: Taking a break / Waiting for the next epic build to be released
COMPLETED: Hachette Spitfire, Hachette Bismarck, Deagostini Millennium Falcon, Deagostini R2-D2

As a bit of recent rubbish... I've always been massively interested in 'old school' film animation. Long ago, (over 40-ish years) I started to make my own short cartoon. This is, a 'picture at a time', drawn for every film frame - 24 per second. All hand drawn and painted by me. Well, here's my current attempt at re-making the first half of a cartoon short I originally drew and painted around 45 years ago...
