The more I see this the more I'm loving it Chris, stunning work throughout. .. Don't be too worried about the rigging, the instructions really do take you through the process step by step and its not as difficult as it may appear. Will be following along with you.... Regards Alan

Both catheads made, painted and fitted with a small decorative strip of my own. Not too sure I like it now they're fitted though? I also dropped in the fore mast and added the lower shroud lines. I hope the method of numbering which I have survives all the fettling that will now ensue. goddo attached the following image(s):

All looking good Chris, this is where she'll really start looking like a period ship. As for the numbering of the shrouds, I attached a small piece of tape on the ends of the shrouds and wrote the number on the tape. This method survived all the fettling. The chances of your shrouds remaining taped to the hull is I think going to be rather slim....

Today I started on the foremast rigging so I made up a little jig for getting the shroud deadeyes to sit in a straight line and consistent distance from the chainwale deadeyes.. I confess to pinching the jig idea from someone else on this forum. Unfortunately, I can't remember their name, so my apologies for that!! As Alan (Gandale) mentioned I stood no chance of keeping the shrouds in order the way I had them taped down so as I made them I slid them onto a short piece of timber and numbered them. This seems to be working at the moment. All I have to do now is clean away all the beeswax residue that is falling onto the chainwales. goddo attached the following image(s):

I just thought I would show how I have been preparing my shrouds in relation to the chainwales. 1. The shrouds fixed to the top of the main mast, spread out and pre-labelled. 2. A shroud wrapped around the jig that I made. (See next post) 3. First securing knot just above the deadeye. (See next post) 4. Shroud whipped, tied off, relabelled and slid onto storage stick. (See next post) I have left some excess on the threads as there may be some future adjustments. goddo attached the following image(s):
