I've also started on the inner wall, again I won't be doing it the way the instructions have it, as the first beam is meant to be one of the larger pieces.

I decided to use one of the smaller pieces at the bottom as you won't see it, plus I'll be adding another piece to this and the deck which is missing from the kit. I've also angled the bottom to allow for the slope of the deck.

While looking at adding this piece I found that the centre rims which where cut wrong in hight are also wrong in shape by 1mm, so I've added a piece of wood along these to fill in that gap.

So this is how she looks at the moment. I'll carry on with the inner wall so I can sand down the inner plank easier.

Hi Alan thanks for pooping in.

So I have been working on this just forgot to post Blushing Blushing

Gun port doors, the way the kit ones are done look horrible and feel sorry for the guys having to pull them open. The upper door is how the kit builds them and the lower version is my way.

Left mine, right kits. You can also see the size difference.

The kit one look way to think.

Mine look nearer the mark from the photos I've been looking at of HMS Surprise.

Both my version.

So before adding the upper deck section I did the piece for holing the ropes from the masts,Confused sorry forgot what there called.

On the big plan this is postponed on the left of the hatch and in the instructions its positioned on the right of the hatch. As you can see the upper section looks to close the the hatch top.

This looks better hight.

which means adding this much to the beams.

Now that looks better hight, the lower cross beam hight was fine so I left that and made my cut hight up.

I'll hide the join inside the cross beams.

Outer hull finished planking. Not to the kit as I changed the hight of the gun ports slightly and didn't use the 4 3x3 strips that were meant to run across the top, I brought some 15x3 stripes and used them.

Inside also finished and again not to the kit, removed all the 3x3 stripes and used some of the 15x3 instead.

I've also added some wood to the inside edge to look more like the beams.

And I've added some piece to the bottom to finish off the planking.

So with a piece of the 3x3 I didn't use I made a water diverter that runs along the deck, I had to carve the shape into that.

Hi Gandale, thank you so much for your kind comment its nice when people see that others care about there builds and take time and effort to achieve the best they can. At the moment she is having a coat of white paint on the upper beams so just waiting on the paint to dry then I'll up date with some more.

So something important was missing from all of this and to me it was the lights that should hang from the beams. So I found some that worked out about the right size but they where the wrong style so I had to adapt them a bit.

This is what I brought.

First job was to enclose some of the unit.

Then to add some cross braces.

Then I needed to redo the top section as they would have been more coned like in shape. So I cut out the shape and glued them on I haven't taken a photo yet as they where just primer'd but this is what I used.

If your wondering what I used, I'm sure you all have on you work bench or in a draw.

Think outside the box and waste nothing Wink
