I wonder if all the latest interest in the Bismarck has prompted a re-release from Amati?
Would be interesting to know what, if any, improvements have been made over the original. After all, it’s been well over 10 years since the original was launched.

JamesH has commented about the new launch over on Modelshipworld.com, so maybe he can throw more light on it?

I would hope there have been improvements, otherwise it means time has stood still and the latest research has not been included in the kit. Even plastic kits get upgrades to include improvements.

Hi All, BigGrin

I have a complete original release of this in my stash and looking at the pics in the link, even with over 2000 etch parts it still looks like the inboard railings and stairs are still plastic, whereas the deck edge railings look like they are etch.

For a re-release of this I think they could have done more with the scaling of the detail. That`s going by the pictures in the link and my old eyes.Crying

I am wondering where they will pitch this as regards to price against the metal hulled version on the market.Blink

Bismarck is one of those tireless kits, it will always be popular so its not surprising a re-release is appearing... Like the Victory, there will always be a market for it.....Cool Cool

Totally agree Alan, but I think Derek is right as well regarding the Amati kit taking on the Hachette version. I think Amati has seen just how much interest there has been in the metal hull version and decided to get in on the action. Can’t blame them really. BigGrin

BigGrin Shame you can’t mix the two. Wooden hull from Amati, with electronics from Hachette. Now that would be MY favourite Love Drool Love
