I'm sure once she's complete and you have a stunning build all the worry will be forgotten. The black paint looks awesome, but soooo easy to mark. Do you have to build with cotton gloves on BigGrin

Well I have been waiting now since last August for the spares and two packages missing.i have decided not to continue with the build. I am fed up of being told out of stock and still being charged. So that's it.

Hi Steve,

I know it’s frustrating for you I can hear it in your words. Keep the faith, everything will be worked out in the end. I’m afraid the Covid crisis has really knocked everything sideways regarding stock and everything else. One thing I can promise you is that people at ModelSpace do care and are trying their best. I’m not employed by the company by the way, but do know you’ll get the full model you paid for. Cool

Been trying to get stages 65 and 66 for over 12 months, only to be informed last week that the build is now discontinued and I'll be getting a full refund, but can keep the parts.
I've got everything else. Will have to build it minus the back wheel on the locomotive by the looks of it.

***edited by Mark***

They sent me pack 9 back in March 2020, but instead of containing stages 65 through to 73, it had stages 69 through to 76. Why they put in stages 74, 75 and 76 is anyone's guess because they belong in pack 10. So, I sent a message, and they sent me another pack 9 a few weeks later, which was identical to the first one they sent, meaning I now had 2 copies of stages 69 through to 76, but still no copies of stages 65 through to 68.

At the end of April 2020, they sent me a third pack 9, which was missing stages 65, 66, and 72 this time. At least it didn't have any bonus stages from pack 10. Pack 10 then arrived 2 weeks later with all the correct stages that were supposed to be in it.

At the end of July 2020 they then sent me pack 11, which had a broken part in stage 83. So, I had to send them another email, and about 3 weeks later I got pack 11 again, all intact. This meant that I now had 24 duplicates of multiple stages between packs 9, 10 and 11, and still no copies of stages 65 or 66 from pack 9.

I then got pack 12 at the beginning of September 2020, which meant I should have had every stage and should have been able to finish building the thing, but the two missing stages from Pack 9 still hadn't been sent out. Eventually I was told by their UK staff, that due to the Covid 19 pandemic they couldn't get any back orders from their warehouse, which lived in Italy, but they assured me that I would get the missing parts as soon as they could manage.

I've been emailing them every month to remind them that I'm still missing 2 stages and that I can't complete the model without the parts they contain, and every month they assured me that I would be getting the missing stages as soon as they became available. The story changed after a while though, from "they couldn't get any stock from the warehouse in Italy" to "the warehouse in Italy didn't have any stock to send", so I was now waiting on the parts to be manufactured in China, so it could then be sent to their warehouse in Italy, before being sent to the distribution hub in the UK, who then had to send it via a UK courier who then had to pass it on to an Australian courier, because the courier company they used didn't have any outlets in Tasmania. This month however, they responded by saying the build had been discontinued and that they were issuing full refunds to everyone who hadn't gotten all their parts.

Now, you'd think that would have been the end of it, but instead of just putting the money back into my debit card, where they initially took it from, they decided they needed an IBAN number, which isn't something we have in Australian banking. My bank said to just give them my savings account details and they should be able to refund it directly into there. I'm still waiting on a response from Model Space UK to see if they can process it or not.

I started this model back in October 2018 on the 24 month payment plan, so it should have all been over and done with by October 2020. It's now May 2021 and they're still mucking me about while we try to sort out how they're going to give me all my money back. The only reason I started this build is because my son, who is on the Autism Spectrum, is obsessed with trains and locomotives. He's going to be a bit upset when his model's finished and it has a wheel missing from the back of the locomotive. Not much I can do about it though, because no one seems to have any spares of the parts we need when I make inquiries about it at various places around the Internet. I'll just be glad when the money's finally been refunded and I can wash my hands of Model Space once and for all.

Hi All,

Ok. This every partwork builders worst nightmare. I am at a loss for words, but suffice it to say, I understand Every. Single. Bit. of hesitation you might have in continuing forward.

However, even with my empathy for all of you who have been stranded, I am NOT going to permit anything resembling "legal advice" on how you should proceed with refunds. If you read the fine print on a subscription, it pretty clearly states that refunds will be accepted PROVIDED ALL PARTS ARE RETURNED IN NEW CONDITION.

You should all be aware that I am pretty permissive on all the bad points being discussed on the forums. I am a firm believer in transparency, and freedom of speech. HOWEVER, this is going to go nuclear, both here, and all over social media. And, there is nothing I, the FST, or anyone can do about it. The horse arrived dead, and I don't want it beaten flat on the ModelSpace Forums.

In summation, Neither I, nor the FST will permit posts venting your understandable anger. If you "just gotta" please feel free to PM me. I'll happily respond to any CIVIL attempts at a dialog, but anything untoward will get you booted off the forums. I as am aghast as you are.

Stay well,

Mark
