I have just finished reading a book called The Royal Navy 1793-1815. It's published by Osprey in thier battle orders series and gives a great insight into the Royal Navy and how it was administered and manned during the time of Nelson up to the end of the war of 1812. I got my copy from Waterstones.

A very good read is 'The Trafalgar Companion' by mark Adkin published by Aurum/ Its one heck of a sized book which is reflected in its cost, and gives a blow-by-blow account of the most famous Sea battle and the life of Lord Nelson, it also includes info on all ships present and lots of info not seen elsewhere.
