Hi All, It`s been quite a while since I posted anything on here but have been busy modelling away. Anyway having finished another conversion of a card model to wood/plastic/metal/card of a 1:200 model of the USS North Carolina I decided to build an aircraft carrier next and settled on the big `E` the USS Enterprise CV6. This will be another conversion from a card model. Model Dimensions Length - 1260mm Beam - 180mm Height - 270mm Ken

Hi Folks. Photocopied all hull parts and transferred to timber. Cut out and glued together. Following the same construction as for card, a strong and rigid hull is achieved. Reduced outline of all frames by 1mm to allow for the first layer of planking Ken

Hi Ken,
If you can, size your pictures to 600x480 pixels, and they will display automatically. This increases views of your pictures.
If you are lacking the software, I’d be happy to resize them for you.
Best,
Mark

Hi All, Timber decks fitted and card decks loose fitted to check for alignment and sizing. Positioned some of the card structure which will be covered using plastic card and sections. Ken

Hi Ken I just downloaded the last pic you posted. The picture size is perfect but the file format needs to be .jpg and not .jpeg then your pics will appear and not be downloads. Hope this helps. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Delboy Once again thanks for the info. It seems that the image resizer I used converted from jpg to jpeg when converting several files but OK one at a time, so will do this in future. Thanks Ken

Hi All Hopefully I`ve got the pictures right. Started the first layer of planking. The model of Enterprise (1944) I`m building had torpedo bulges added and this makes the first layer slightly more involved. Started planking where there are definite lines between bulge and hull as seen on the frames. I also used the card sections as a reference on the hull where solid timber will be shaped. the bow and stern sections will be filled with solid timber when the second layer is completed. Hi Ken nice smooth hull Looks like the frames are quite thin for pinning the hull planks to but looks like this has not given you any issues

Hi Budgie, The frames are 1.5mm lime and the 1st layer of planking is only 1mm thick and vary from 5mm to 2mm wide and using dressmaker pins and planks moistened for the ends and sharp bends they can be carefully pinned without too much splitting. Ken
