Shaping masts and yards Options

I'm getting to the point in my build where I have to think about this and as a newb, I'm not sure what options are available. Since it seems to involve a LOT of sanding and to some specific sizes, I'm looking for suggestions of how to do it. I'm hoping not to start any flame wars on "best". I just don't have any experience here and would like to see what my options are so I can choose the best for me.
