Very nice work Phil, fitting that many tiny valves into such a small space must have driven you absolutely nuts especially when some of them came adrift and had to be done all over again! I love fitting small bits of PE to enhance a model, very therapeutic, but it can be a complete pain in the derriere at times!

Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. Thank you for all the comments! So, it is with great pleasure to announce, <drum roll please>, that THE CONTROL ROOM IS NOW FINISHED! I then turned my attention back to the separate hull section and scratch-built a switchboard and added the part-works supplied motors, which i painted white. I added the junction boxes to each one and then wired them up to the switchboard. Next step was to make up a bank of part-works supplied valves. The original was basically an undefined 'blob' of plastic, which the valve tops and hand wheels would then be fitted too. This 'blob' looked dreadful, so i spent quite some time separating all of the individual valve bodies and reconnecting them with 2.0mm diameter solder. I also added a treadplate walkway. Similar treatment to the bank of valves seen in the attached photo. This set and the previous set of valves were fitted at the same time as the hull, to get their correct position. Hull section fitted, looking aft. I applied a light dusting of rust to the superstructure, as this represents No3 Main Ballast Starboard and would be full of sea water when the U-boat is dived and empty, as in this case, when surfaced. I see you are still progressing well with this one Phil. It looks top notch. Need to thin out my part works collections (this being one of them) but not sure best route as ebay has some “not ideal” buyers that try it on and you can end up loosing money. Similar with some of the ship kits i have bought in recent years (not going to live long enough to get them all done :-) ) How much more work do you think you have left before you complete your build? Next week i'll move forward on the U-boat to the next compartment which houses the CO's cabin, Officers quarters, Senior Rates quarters, the W/T shack [Wireless & Transmissions] and the Sonar shack.
