Nice work as always Phil. It must be a pleasant and welcomed change for you to be able to do some larger pieces instead of all of that micro-surgery and miniature painting that you've been doing recently!
Keep going, looking really good!

Good evening from 'the Dockyard'. So more progress on fitting out the Torpedo Compartment. The attached photo shows the etched brass deck plate, painted, pin washed and fitted. Sticky Wickett attached the following image(s): Completed projects: 1/43 scale Bedford HA van / 1/43 scale MG TD sports car Current projects: 1/48 scale U-boat [U230] Future projects: 1/148 scale railway diorama / 1/50 scale R/C Volvo F89 logging truck / 1/148 scale Thunderbirds Fireflash

I then turned my attention to the torpedo tubes. The basic resin castings i bought, along with 2 torpedoes, from a guy in Germany back in April 2015. I think i was one of his last customers, as not long after, he shut up shop. Glad i found him when i did, as it has saved me a lot of time. My intention is to make one of the torpedo tube rear doors hinged and in the open position as i want to show a torpedo in the process of being loaded. The attached photo shows the tubes being prepped and at this stage i decided to cut off the rear doors on all the tubes instead of just the one, so that i can have a uniform look, spacing wise, when i reattach them. The attached photo shows the hinge fitted and the tube rear door operable. I decided to make all of the doors hinged and operable at this stage, to get a uniform look, even though 3 of them of will be glued shut. Torpedo tubes painted and doors fitted to 3 of them. There are lots more details to add before installation, but this is good starting point. That was a good find with the guy in Germany. You are doing a great job to make it all look so realistic. Chris

Bit like me - i was “collecting” the upgrades for my Deagostini Victory only to find new additions I had missed had ceased production. I contacted the chap and he said as “i was such a good customer” he would do a “one off” production for the additional parts. So now i have a wonderful range of add on parts for my Victory and it would be a “crime” not to pick up the build. Your build is outstanding. I have followed with you since the start and what you have produced is simple exceptional. I have all the parts for that sub build and the sad fact is i will never get to build it, along with many ship models i bought for my “retirement”. Just see it all ending up in the skip which is sad. Your building is outstanding. Looking forward to your next update. Tony Happy Modelling

Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. More progress was made on the torpedo tubes which i mentioned last week. Adding some finer details such as handles on the rear doors, adding etched numbers to each rear door as well as valve hand-wheels and extra pipework and levers. All painted, varnished then heavily pin-washed to pick out the details. The attached photo shows tubes 1 & 3 completed and ready for fitting. Excellent work as always Phil, really like that last photo, gives a real impression of the menacing side of a torpedo room!
Keep it coming!
