I had reached issue 40 before these instructions started. I have completed the tiling as far as the instructions go and am now continuing the build and have reached issue 50. I am waiting for the next instalment of tiling before continuing with it. The only difference I have made from the instructions is that I have painted the hull with the copper paint so any small gaps I leave in the tiling do not show up. Good luck with it all First Build HMS Victory and HMS Endeavour Also Krick steam boat "Victoria" Cheers Ivan (Ordinary Seaman) http://www.old-glossop.com

Sorry to butt in on this topic as I'm not copper tiling, but have noticed one or two shipmates are painting then tile'ing! will this not mean that the glue will only be as strong as the paint? I'd hate to see tiles dropping off at a later date! Jeff

you raise a good point about using adhesive on paint. the short answer is yes, however if you do not undercoat first the paint will be absorbed by the wood still leaving a good rough surface for your chosen adhesive. there really is not a need to paint first as there should be no gaps big enough for the paint to be visible and the tile and the paint look very different. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
