So that concludes the fitting out of the Torpedo Compartment and is now complete!  The end of 2021 sees all compartments of my 1/48 scale model of Type VIIC U-boat U230 completed. Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. Slow progress this week and didn't get that much done. What i did do was to tidy the wiring to the chock blocks as seen in the attached photo. With the feeds from both chock blocks merging into one chock block, i could switch all lights on at the same time. Not the best photograph, so apologies for that.  Noticed a little light bleed by the Torpedo Compartment, so will remedy that next week, as well as make the batteries and wooden covers to hide all the wiring. Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. This week i tidied up the wiring for the lights and made cells for the Aft Battery Space. The attached photo shows a rack of cells. Only 3 here, but there would be many more in this aft space as well as the same amount in the Forward Battery Space. To give you an idea, on the diesel/ electric submarine i served on, HMS Opportune, which had a very similar layout to these Type VIIC U-boats. There were 224 cells, each being 3 feet high, 18 inches square and weighed 1/2 ton. These 224 cells, total weight of 124 tons, represented 1 battery and there were 2 batteries, as there are on this U-boat.
