So a sortie on to e-bay upon my return dealt me up some 2" l brackets - qty 12 for £3.60 with free p&p.

A visit to Wickes tomorrow to look at some wood and Im on my way..

Thank you very much, you are very kind Blushing
One more "ladies" question - I'm thinking about the keel clamp from mantua model shopp (https://www.mantuamodel.co.uk/prod.asp?product_idx=126&imgstate=1) but its only 27 cm length. The question is will it be too short for the Victory? Thank you.

from what i can see that keel is no good for this type of boat.

im sure someone with alot mroe experience will go into detail saying the reason why,

Its hard to explain (from my point) as im clueless with the boat terms

To try and explain as clearly as i can, The victory boat shape restricts the support you can give it, like the images above they show L supports inbetween the what i call the ribs of the ship. with the long keel like yours the ribs will block it from holding onto the centre mid section (i call it the spine lol)

as you can see from this image the bottom of the "ribs" is in aline to the spine of the ship, the long keel will have no where to hold onto/secure the ship.

Hi Anna...
The base board for your jig ...needs to be 80 to 90 cm's long..20 cm's wide (minimum) and 2cm's deep......you should not have any problems getting the brackets.....although ..there are many good offers on e-bay..(thats where i got mine)...hope this helps...BigGrin BigGrin

I wouldn't get it from ikea, it'd cost an arm and a leg as they only do finished furniture. You could go to a timber merchant and ask them to cut piece. The simplest thing to do though is go to B&Q, they have plain wood shelving that is the perfect size for the base. BigGrin
