Can anyone recommend a simple sailing ship kit ?

My 11 year old son is showing a real interest in building these ship and always want to help with my Victory & Suprise build. Obviously these are far to complex to allow him to do more than sand a few bits and bobs and stick a few things together (things that I ususally have to reglue when he's not looking)BigGrin

I am trying to find a good quality kit that would be more suited to him but where I can also offer help and guidance.

I have looked at some of the websites often mentioned here but the simple kits are usually of the skeletal style.

Thanks Guys

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Built:
Golden Star, English Brig. RMS Titanic. (Academy 1/400 Centenary Anniversary Edition) Revell-Monogram 1/48 B-29 Superfortress 1:8 Baron von Richthofen's Fokker Tri-plane. HMS Victory. Building:HMS Surprisel. Hatchette U96. Soleil Royal.

As a start point, it might be worthwhile considering a plastic period ship such as one of the Airfix or Revell offerings instead of a wood kit.

This would give instant gratification, the problem with youngsters is that they soon loose interest or patience if the result of their endeavour can't be seen quickly.

If it has to be wood, then I would steer him well clear of a plank on frame build of any description, and go for a solid hull model such as one of the Constructo offerings

Thanks Guys I will look in to both options - I think solid wood is the way for him to go
