Flanged or unflanged screws for joining back panels?

I've just got round to building issue 74 and I'm confused over which screws should be used to join the three sections of the back panel.
In issue 70, the photos showed unflanged 2.3x6mm black self-tapping screws being used. This is also shown on the official build diary here, and on the deAgostini assembly video on YouTube. However, in issue 74 when the third section of the back panel is attached, the photos clearly show flanged 2.3x6mm black self-tapping screws being used.
Should I have used flanged screws in Issue 70?
Should I remove the unflanged screws that I have installed and replace them with flanged ones?
