Hi all, Just a thought for everyone: Although the Japanese McLaren build site is NOT the same as the UK one in terms of order of parts issue, I note that they received their second Rear Wheel/Tyre at issue 44 whereas I would guesstimate that ours will be around 50/51 though I may be wrong ?? With that in mind, I am thinking of ordering double issues from my newsagent on the upcoming Issues 30 & 31, so that I will have the complete set of wheels and tyres for the car in the next three weeks, ready for the completion of the rear suspension and the start of the not too far away chassis parts, rather than wait until much later. I assume they are indentical as the fronts were to each other and I could always sell the later one on as spares nearer the end if needed?? What do you think?? Worth doing?? Good or Bad idea?? It's only money after all!! Regards ... Kev.

What I meant when I said: Quote: I assume they are indentical as the fronts were to each other was that they are the same on each side of the axle as in the two fronts are identical to each other and the two rears, although wider, are again identical to each other, but NOT the same as the fronts?? Sounds clear as mud I know, and probably not explained very well by me in the first place, but I hope you get my meaning?? Regards ... Kev.

I would like a full set as spares. Then make a tyre trolley and put them in the display case.
If there is a set of wets available as they say then I may use these.

Hi Kev
The wheels are probably the same on the left and right side but the tyres have direction arrows, therfore you could do what you are suggesting but you'll have to swap one tyre later.

Hi Smeg and the Heads, I see where you are coming from with your thinking and you are absolutely right!! Initially I thought that there would be no need to swap a tyre later, having already considered that possibility, as to my thinking, all you would have to do is insert the wheel from a left rotating tyre into the tyre from the opposite side (a horizontal change of 180 degrees) and the left tyre then becomes a right rotating tyre if viewed from the front face of the wheel. In effect the direction arrows from what was originally a left tyre, are now facing backwards NOT forwards, so when fitted to the right hub they will be facing the right way - RIGHT ??? WRONG !!!!!! ... I have missed an important point !!! PROBLEM !!: The tyre beads, where the tyre meets the wheel, have different profile lips on the inner and outer edges, so they could NOT be used in the way I have explained above - DOH - (slaps forehead)!! Good thinking Smeg and glad you woke me up in time otherwise I could have wasted my money - Thanks mate!!! That solves that one then?? Regards ... Kev.
