That's looking really nice. It's amazing how little rigging adds complexity to the model. Rigging the deadeyes is bit fiddly especially at 1/100 scale but you did really good job. Can't wait for the update.
P.S.
If you think this is tricky wait for the ratlines. Doing it proper way even at 1/84 scale takes up some practise. I barely started and I had to get new tweezers already so I can actually do something with the tiny rope...

Regards
Tom

Thank you Tom.
Not quite your amazing standards but I'm reasonably pleased with it so far.

Thank you but you are being too polite Chris. I'm happy with my build but there is so many things I'd do differently now... There is no option but starting something new once I complete Victory :)

I feel the same Tom.
I have thoroughly enjoyed building the victory model but there is so much that really needs improvement and the only realistic answer would be to start again and I'm not doing that.
The learning curve has been greatly eased by the manuals and videos available and the help of forum members throughout and I would recommend it to anyone who has built at least a couple of ships before. Not for the total novice I don't think.
Having said all this, life is one big learning curve and hopefully my next build will be an improvement.
Chris

So, not having done too much apart from a small amount of initial rigging work, I thought I would upload some "fairly" recent pics of my build with apologies if I am repeating any earlier ones.

You will notice that I have removed the bowsprit for the time being as I found it cumbersome when switching from side to side with the rigging.

Hello everyone,
I'm really hoping that one of you might point me in the right direction.
I'm desperately searching for some 7mm heart blocks in boxwood but all the usual suppliers are out of stock.
I worked my way through the online kit suppliers and also a usually very well stocked model shop that I have been using for years, all to no avail.
Before anyone says it, I know they should be included in the packs, but I've looked everywhere and can't locate them.
Does anyone have a supplier that has these in stock please? I will be most grateful.

(PS This is a copy of the post that I have placed in general discussion)

My problem is sorted!!
I just got a phone call from Cornwall Model Boats a few minutes ago to say that they had some heart blocks and they are sending them to me. Result!!

Hi! I'm just looking at other diaries now to see what other people's ships look like in comparison to my own - and WOW your painting of the rear cabins is epic! I struggled to get straight lines even when using masking tape to paint against, and had to correct with black afterwards which takes a steady hand. Even so, after a while I ended up with so many layers of paint over paint that I felt I had to either stop and make do, or strip all the paint off and start again which would never have been easy.

Keep up the good work!

Hi BoatBetty,
Thank you for those kind words.
The gallery painting and decoration was all part of an enhancement kit which is sadly no longer available.
All credit should go to the designer of that kit because all I did was follow instructions.

Some time ago, I removed the bowsprit because it was getting in my way while I was rigging the shrouds.
Now that is done I reinstalled the bowsprit.

I then tried to fit the prepared gang board but for some reason it wouldn't sit correctly so I glued thin strips of wood to the rear and sides, sanded and then repainted. Purists will notice that I added a narrow yellow band along the side of the gang board.

I then made a jig for the stays but instead of using brass wire as suggested, I made a wooden one with scrap wood and a toothpick. It worked very well and the heart blocks didn't slip off.

Then on to adding the fore and main mast stays and preventers. The zig zag ties don't look so precise as they did when I had my clamps fitted! Blushing
In the next pic below, you may have noticed that I also added a bucket and a couple of rope coils to the lower decking.

The next stage in the instructions is to make up the gun port lids, which I have already done at an earlier stage. I won't be fitting them just yet as I know that I will be snapping them off again during the next stages of the build.
