I'm about to make a start on my 5th Entex Lotus 72. You might gather I like this kit. This will be the Gold Leaf Reine Wisell no. 3 car from the 1971 Spanish GP. The front wings will need altering and a new airbox at the rear but nothing major. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Crikey Moses!!! That takes me back in time. I built that very kit when I was in my early twenties. After that I left home but didn't take any of my cars with me. Will watch this built with very fond memories and I'm sure you will make a better job of it than I did. Chris

Thanks for peeping in Chris. So far, the interior has been painted and the body tub built around it. All masked and now in primer... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Hi Roy,
You’re doing the Gold Leaf livery? Sweet! That livery is one of the best, and it looked great on the 49B as well.
Cheers,
Mark

Mark Absolutely Mark. I just LOVE the Gold Leaf colours. I really would have liked to see the AWESOME Lotus 79 in that scheme.

The lower gloss white is on, masked and the red upper done. Masking not yet removed. Apologies for the awful picture but for some reason, red always comes out terribly on my little old camera. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Masking removed. I'll let it all harden off for a day or so before moving ahead. Nose section assembled with re-shaped front wings... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

A little more today for anyone peeping in. The nose has been sanded and primed, and the gloss white applied underneath. A bit of fiddly masking next for the red and gold. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

May thanks Mark and Malc. A bit more on the nose section today. A bit of careful masking and the gold has been sprayed on. After an hour, masking removed. I'll let the paint harden off for 3-4 days then I'll mask over the gold and spray the red area... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Lovely work, Roy. I must say that I didn't lavish this much attention to my kit, back in the day. Chris.

Assorted coats of red and fine sanding, followed by a final top coat and masking removed. I'm quite happy with it at present. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

I'm working on the front end at present. Almost sorted but still pipes etc to add. Only placed in the body tub to check the fit - not glued yet... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Your really "motoring" with this kit now, Roy. (See what I did there?) Chris

Thanks for peeping in Chris. Pipework etc added at the front now but still a bit more to do. Engine block and tranny now assembled and the spaghetti of fuel lines and plug leads are sorted. Yes, red plug leads. Purely for a bit of colour and contrast... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Following with great interest in your build, excellent as usual. The red shows up well on black, good choice. Regards Andy.

Many thanks for looking in Andy. Back on this one for a while - a bit of a break from the big Pocher Testarossa. Decals printed so I'll be adding them to the main tub and nose in a while. I've sorted the dash and some wiring, and fitted gold stripes along the tub sides, leaving space for the Gold Leaf decal later on. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
