Hi All,BigGrin

Thanks to all who looked in and special thanks for the encouragement in your posts. It`s really appreciated. Cool

Been a while now, but I`ve not been idle and have an update on the tram and some basics on the dio.

The Tram:

I`ve finished the eight seat bases (one of which was shown earlier in the build)and have made a start on the main seat backs.

A pre-cut seat back from ply is covered front and back with the leatherette material. This then has a brass strip fixed on top and both sides and forms a grab handle for the tram passengers. Then two mounting brackets are fixed to the seat backs. One example of this is shown in Pic 1.

With this seat back completed, it is fitted to the seat frame(built earlier in this diary)and then the seat base is fixed in place. Pics 2 and 3 show a complete seat from front and back respectively.

The Dio:

This update is for the biggest facade of the dio, of which the two parts were joined earlier in the build. I`ve now dressed up the seam a bit, marked and drilled three small holes for use later on. See Pic 4.

Two pieces of paper that have a brick pattern on them are then cut. Pic 5

These are then fixed to the front of the facade as shown in Pic 6.

A 2 x 7mm piece of strip wood is then fixed to the reverse side as shown in Pic 7.

The front face of the facade is now covered with a paper that looks like a painted rendering. This does cover the brick patterned paper fixed earlier, but glue is not put on the brick paper as this will be exposed at a later date. (I`ll let you guess for now what will occur here).

When dry the areas of doors and windows are removed. Pic 8

That`s all for now, but have lots of small bits up for a paint job so next update soon.

Regards

This is quite a major build in terms of lots to do on the tram then the added buildings and layout.
