Ok, an 'oldie' here now but I only recently got this kit. There are umpteen detailed build diaries here of this kit so I'm not going to go potty with a big build log. I'll be pointing out parts I've modified, detailed, repainted etc so hopefully it's going to be a fun build. As usual, I'll be starting on something else within the next few days as I like to have a couple of builds on the go at once. It's fun to jump between the two every now and then. So far, I've assembled the nose and front wings. All very straightforward. I repainted the black inner nose section in satin black as the kit part looked too plasticky. Next was the rear wing. A tad more challenging to get the parts together without getting glue where it's not wanted. I made it easier by taping the parts in place and then carefully feeding cyano adhesive along the joints using a knife blade. Fortunately, no dramas there. Next up, brakes and a hub. Again, all very easy although I added some paint variations to the calipers and a bit of shading wash. It doesn't show too clearly in the pics but it's there. One of the coolers has been sorted after some masking, light spraying of matt black, and ally metal tape over the join between the rad halves. One wheel on my wagon... Amazing - a DeAg kit where I don't have to boil the tyres and use brute force plus assorded bits of colourful language. They tyre went on nice and easily after I'd sanded the tread to look a bit more realistic. On we go... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

A bit more on this huge one. The main engine block is screwed lightly together. I say lightly as the instructions say it has to come apart again later... It does make you wonder why you are told to assemble it in the first place. Anyway, one side pod now basically sorted although I will be adding some extra detail wiring. It's just sitting next to the cockpit tub in the pic. Great fun so far.  roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Wow... this kit takes me back a few years. It's the model that got me started making my F1 collection.

Thanks for peeping in Malc. Right. Next step was a blunder on my part of epic proportions. I LOST pack 24!!! It was there - I checked the whole kit. I turned over my cave, looked in all the drawers, under my desks, even in my bin. It will be one of those things that turns up when least expected. Anyway, I wanted to move forwards. Solution? Scratch-make the parts... Fortunately they are basically flat pieces so out came the 60 thou plastic sheet. First problem - NO plan for the parts and the numerous holes in them. First off, I used images from the instructions via 'print screen' and pasted them into Paintshop pro. Next, I selected images showing most of what I needed and then applied perspective correction. After that, cropped and pasted into Serif Page plus and re-sized according to the model body tub. I printed the parts on card, cut them out, and tested for fit. It took several attempts until I got it all the right size and shape. Traced onto plastic, cut out and drilled - Voila. It worked. Must say, I was pretty pleased. I've done a bit more on this one in the past week. Master cylinders now fitted and the front arms, hubs and suspension is in place. There are some incredibly tiny and awkward to access screws in this area and I have to say there were a few moments where launching the model seemed viable. However, perseverance pays off. Well here we are - Christmas over so back on with building. The engine is now all coming together but I must say that fitting the injector lines and fuel rails was a tad challenging. All sorted though. Numerous parts de-seamed and repainted - I just HATE seeing seams on parts. A pet bug of mine.  roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Well, all the separate stages are coming together now. A tad annoying how every 5-6 steps forward, you have to take bits apart again though. I'll have to get on with printing the missing Marlboro decals as they aren't included. A lovely model with loads of detail. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

The final parts... Rear undertray had a few extra screws added for security as it's only actually held one with one small screw in the kit. I found that using plastic glue on the bodywork parts as suggested in the instructions didn't work. The pieces just came apart again too easily. Cyano used next - job done. Also, maybe it was the age of the kit but the supplied 'Shell' decals etc just broke up when trying to remove the surface film after applying them, even almost 24 hours later. I printed my own.
