This has been on the back burner for a long time but I've decided to make a start on it in between my other builds.

As far as I know, there isn't a 1/8 model of this incredibly famous E Type.
I'm going to add all the bits - engine, interior, opening doors etc.

This one will use a few bits of the big Revell kit - floorpan, suspension parts, uprights, diff cage etc.

The body has been floating about for an age and it was made from a rough carved wood buck years ago, and then vac formed. It will need a lot of filler and sanding.

Anyway, fingers crossed.LOL LOL LOL

Hi Roy,

Between you and Mark, I’m thoroughly envious. Where do you find the time?
That car is right up there with the 300SL/SLR it terms of looks.
Cheers,

Mark

Many thanks Mark.

A bit of 'mocking up' today.

Side window templates were easy - scaled up from a side-on view of the real car.
Floor part checking for fit - all ok so far.

A bit more...

I've chopped the transmission tunnel dashboard end off, and fitted in a moulding of my own that is a more accurate shape for this car.
The upper area needs to be carpeted.

Rear window now cut out but it needs a bit of tidying up.
Front screen next.

For those following...

I've done some more on the interior, based on pics of the real car. Carpeting the compound shapes of the tunnel top was fun.

Front firewall in and a start made on the engine frames. It will all get a coat of dark green shortly.

Another update on this one.

The front end was masked using an old poly bag and tape.
After a coat of grey primer I added some green, only to discover I'd used the wrong colour - DOH!

24 hours later, the correct green was put on and the masking was removed when it was dry...

Some more done on this one.

The fire system has been scratch made and installed but decals are still needed.
The door bottoms have been lengthened to fit better on the floor pan, and the rear under body has now been attached.
It's glued and held together with clamps and tape.
Next it will get a good bit of filler and sanding.

Another task soon will be to cut out the doors.
That might be a bit of a mission...

Top work as always Roy! I find it very interesting the way that you take an idea and then use your considerable skills in casting new parts and moulding new body shapes and forms to bring it all to a successful conclusion? It's not easy what you do and you should be proud of your achievements. It's impressive indeed!⁸

Excellent work Roy! CoolCoolThumpUp

Hi Roy,

Just looked in on your build great stuff, as said it takes a lot of skill to achieve the level you build at and we can all learn from you and the way you create them, will be watching.

Good luck with this one.

Regards. Trev.

Many thanks for looking in and commenting chaps.
It's very much appreciated.

I've now added the seats - covered in very dark grey leather.
Also, the rear body is nearing paint and then fitting.
Lots of filler, sanding and high-build primer around the join at the tail.
I'm quite happy with it so far.

More sanding, filling, primer, sanding...

Final sanding of the grey primer and a first coat of green.
More sanding tomorrow and then more green.

The body is only placed on the tub to see how it looks.

Many thanks for looking in and commenting you guys.

Back on this one for a little while as I'm gathering reference and paints for the Team Gunston Lotus 72.

A fine wet sanding and a final coat of Jaguar racing green.
It will get a good polishing eventually but next will be to create hinges for the door skins and then get them fitted.
After that, screens in and body fixed to the main tub.

A little more...

Dashboard underway - still some details to add as per my reference pictures.
I'm going to take a rubber mould from a 1/8 Lotus 72 kit steering wheel to make a resin copy as it's much more like the wheel in the real Jag.

Revell kit door hinges being modded to (hopefully) work with my body shell and doors.

Front and rear screens now in the body. Rubber screen surrounds still to make and add.
On we go...
