The wooden wheels are an after-market kit and comprise a central machined Hub/Spoke, four rim pieces, Brass hub plates and a Brass rim. There’s also white rubber tyres available but I felt that would look a bit odd. In reality black tyres only arrived around 1917 when Carbon was added to improve the stability of the compound.
The parts get glued together and then drilled and bolted.

That is very impressive Malc, a real museum piece and beautifully built! I like the way that you've painted those exhaust downpipes, they look perfect, like they've gotten hot and with a very slight hint of a rusted surface after they've cooled. Brilliant!!

Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing more! Cool Drool ThumpUp

Thanks Kev. I was quite pleased how those pipes turned out. It was Tamiya gun metal spray and then a slight dry brushing with a Mig acrylic rust. Almost finished this one now.BigGrin

You’re right Mark. There are the major upgrades of wooden wheels and upholstered seats. Expensive bits from Model motorcars but worth it to add something extra to this kit. Thanks for looking in. Nearly at the end on this one, just started the assembly of the drive chains…. More on this soon. Cursing

Thanks for the kind comments, Roy and for following the build.

The drive chains comprise a few hundred of these “number 8” shaped steel blanks and turned rivets. The instructions illustrate a plate with holes that has to be used to hold the parts whilst the rivets are formed with the supplied tool ( A metal rod with a pointed end ) and my own hammer. The jig was however missing from the kit so I had to improvise an Aluminium plate with a couple of holes drilled in it. A bit of a fiddley challenge especially since the rivets were of variable quality but got there in the end. There were enough plates, but a couple of the rivets proved to be unusable. I closed the chain with 1.6mm x 8 nut and bolt. ( won’t be seen on the finished product ).BigGrin

Nearly finished this one now……

Top job on that drive chain Malc, must have been mind numbingly boring by the time that you'd finished it!? A cracking result and a beautiful model too.

Very well done. Drool Drool ThumpUp

Thanks for the comments Marc. I'm really quite pleased how this box of Red and Grey plastic has turned out. Just the leather straps to fix now and a few paint touch-ups and it's done. BigGrin
