Yet another Entex 1/8 Lotus 72. I'm using parts of this kit as reference to make missing parts for my current 1/12 Tamiya Lucky Strike model which has umpteen missing parts. It's a part started kit (I seem to have quite a few like it - lol) However, to say BADLY part started is an understatement. I don't think I've ever seen so much glue used on such a scale. 'Glue Bomb' really sums it up. Utterly impossible to dismantle the body tub so I'm going to try to clean it up and see how it goes from there. Eventually, it will be a Team Gunston car... Thanks for looking in Andy. I must admit I do enjoy trying to resurrect these basket cases. After a lot of harsh sanding the tub has had several coats of high build primer followed by more sanding, then a coat of grey primer. I'm hoping the front and rear frames/panels will fit without too much aggro as the main tub isn't quite 'square', but I can't alter it due to the insane amount of glue that was used. Another update on this one now that I'm back from a holiday. Side pods fitted, all painted with high build primer and sanded down. Then, grey primer. Interior tub and rear bulkhead were then painted ally silver. Once dry, those areas were masked. A coat of white primer and when dry, a fine sanding. Two coats of VW brilliant orange. It looks to be a very good match. Once dry, the masking was removed. Apologies - the pics were uploaded in order, but the page has scrambled them. A bit more here. Dashboard assembled and wiring added, then fitted to the body. Rear body detail parts and radiators added but some wiring still needed there. On we go. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Another update here for anyone following. The front cage and suspension etc has now been assembled and fitted. I've now built enough of these big '72's to know not to follow the kit instructions exactly. Most of the cage is assembled and allowed to dry and then the 'A' arms are sprung into place by flexing the supports. Uprights and other parts are then added. Far easier than the suggested instructions. Anyway, on we go with the engine parts next. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Moving ahead here... The main engine parts have been assembled and painted, as well as the transmission. The exhaust manifolds on these kits are horrendous to put together. The instructions are very vague and even having already built about 8 of these 1/8 Cosworth engines, it's still a nightmare. Then I had a brainwave. I used the Tamiys 1/12 Lotus 72 instructions. An utter doddle. They are now assembled and painted, ready to fit a bit later on. Decals now created and printed. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

I see what you mean about excessive use of glue......Blimey!!
You have made a very good start though and I'm sure you will end up with a fantastic looking car.

Many thanks for looking in Chris. On the home straight now. Engine and transmission all sorted and fitted and a good deal of the plumbing and wiring attended to although there's still more to go. Maybe another day or two... roymattblack attached the following image(s):
