BigGrin Thanks for your reply Johnny appreciate it

Cool i will play it safe and order 2mm and 2.5mm as cannons on Surprise might be different than Vic's

Blushing i should have kept one of the Vic's canons instead of giving them away to compare withBigGrin

Good to see an update from you!
Your build is coming along really well, the cannons take a bit of work but as these aren't fully visible when the next deck goes on, these can be left as they are and the next ones can be finished to a better standard as the tricks and tips learned from the last set will be your starting point for the next set (if that makes any sense).
Keep up the good work.
Steve..

Well, I spent a couple of hours today, gluing the companionway ladders into place then tried to tackle the ropes that surrounded them. I drilled the holes for the ring bolts at the required depth of 3mm...Then, following the instructions in Issue 52, not gluing the ring bolts in, I set about threading and securing the ropes through the ring bolt eyes...The air was turning rapidly blue with my use of the French language which I mastered while planking the hull...Five times the ring bolts fell through the companionway hole, and I had to go searching for the fiendish things!! In the end, I super glued the ring bolts into position first, then fed the rope through the eyes and glued them into place with PVA glue, I used miniature pegs to hold the loops together while the glue dries.

I am now looking at issue 53 and 54 regarding the deck beams and the planking of the same...Hhhmmmm...I'm going to enjoy the next stage!! Catch yer later shipmates...Happy building.

Well done Johnny - you can be proud! (of your build, not the use of the French language LOL)

I found that I had several hours to spare today. so I decided to crack on with my build, and the following pictures show my progress. I had finished the companionway then set about cutting strips of 6mm wide lengths to make up the support beams for the deck planking.

That's it for today shipmates, I hope to complete the installation of the deck support beams tomorrow...(after I have ran a taxi service for the missus to and from the shops tomorrow)..Crying Then I can get back to my build, so watch this space...Happy building lads...
P.S...Can't believe that I have taken over 1000 pictures of this build so far!!..Blink

I managed to get a little bit more done this morning and completed the fitting of the support beams for the decking...Blink

Then I set about putting the ship's wheel together..but of course, heavy handed muggins here managed to snap one of the wheel supports...I managed to put the two pieces back together using a dab of super glue...leaving the support t dry on a high...Blink LOL

Once Dry, I shall paint the parts for the ships wheel and glue it all together...But in the meantime, I need to trim the frames as mentioned in issue 54, then crack on with fitting the deck...so watch this space...happy building shipmates...BigGrin
