Hello All, Its time for some Ironman updates.Cool Cool

This update for issue 79, will complete the installation of the shoulder supports and fixing points.

Parts supplied are shown in Pic 1.

This update is basically a repeat of issue 78, except that it is the opposite end of the Shoulder Joint Casing that we are working on and then the shoulder joint detailing is added to each side when the casing is in place.

So, to the construction:

Recover the Shoulder Joint Casing from issue 78 and position the inner ball joint part (79a) in place on the end of the casing Pic 2 , fixing it in place using a QP screw. Pic 3. Then fit the inner friction block in place as shown in Pic 4.

Now make up the outer part of the ball joint, using parts 79B and 79D as shown in Pic 5 and then attach this assembly to the end of the Shoulder Joint Casing. Fix it in place as before using three LP screws Pic 6.NOTE: as before the outer parts of the ball joint will have a small gap between them.

Having completed the Arm/Shoulder base, it needs to be fitted inside the Chest assembly from Issue 77. To accomplish this, you have to remove the top cover of the Arm/Shoulder unit by removing the two screws and lifting off the cover. Pic 7.

I`m not a fan of this fit a part/remove a part system, because it can only weaken the threads cut into parts and cause joint failure. Unfortunately I`m not involved in the build process, so it is what it is and we carry on.

With the cover removed, position the Arm/Shoulder base inside the chest Pic 8.

Please note: that in Pic 8, there is a YELLOW line positioned between the centre points of the pivot joints and this shows that the centres of the joints must be below the screw fixing points shown in Pic 8 where two IM screws are used to hold the unit in place.

The top cover is now replaced and fixed with the two screws removed earlier. Pic 9.

Position the shoulder armour supports either side of the chest by their notation of L for left and R for Right as shown in Pic 10. Fix the right support as shown in Pic 11 using two EM screws, then replicate this on the other side so your assembly is as shown in Pic 12.

That just leaves one final task, to place the neck/head connector as shown in Pic 13.

This has been a busy session, with the final result shown in Pic 14.

See you all soon for the next update.

Hi All, BigGrin

I`m back for the next update, Drool that will cover Issue 80. Not a lot to cover, but it all needs attention paying to it.

Parts supplied are as always shown in Pic 1.

Part 80A is then positioned inside the lower area of the chest assembly from Issue 79. Pic 2.

Part 80A is then fixed in place by two HM screws as indicated in Pic 3.

That ends this update and I`ll be back soon with the update for Issue 81.

Hi All, BigGrin

Thought I`d post another update for you, to take my mind off feeling YUCK. After effects of Covid Jab yesterday, so hopefully feel better soon.

Enough of my self pity LOL , lets get on with the update for Issue 81. Before I do here is a general update on future progress. Issue 82 is complete and will follow shortly, with issues 83 - 86 as work in progress.

Issue 81 parts supplied shown in Pic 1.

Parts 81B and 81C are detailing parts and are positioned as shown in Pic 2. If you have large hands you can hold them both in position and fix them in place with an IP screw each. Pic 3. If not just do them one at a time.

That completes this update for Issue 81. Pic 4.

I`ll see you soon for the Issue 82 update, that will close this pack.

Hi All,BigGrin

Here we are with the next update for Ironman, Issue 82. This is the last update for this pack.

An update for where we are, is that the next Pack covers Issues 83 -86.

Issues 83 -85 are complete, pending pic editing and posting and issue 86 is on the construction table. Then its down to the next delivery.

This only leaves 14 more issues to reach the finish line of this amazing build.

So lets crack on with Issue 82. In this issue we will construct the mechanism that will be used to attach and release the waist and torso of the armour. This mechanism is positioned in the rear/back of the main torso.

Parts supplied for this issue are shown in Pic 1.

The first part of the assembly is to position the torsion spring (82D) onto the chest connector lever(82B). The bent end of the torsion spring is positioned through the small hole in the side of the connection lever as shown in Pic 2.

NOTE: You can also see from Pic 2 that the torsion spring at this point is not fixed in a particular position, but that the hole through the centre of the torsion spring will line up with the larger hole in the side of the lever if moved accordingly. This is all relevant for the following assembly stages.

Continue by pushing the Pin shaft (82F) into the side of the chest connector as far as shown in Pic 3.

Fiddley bit coming up Blink :

Now position the lever and torsion spring into the centre of the connector base and press the pin shaft through the torsion spring and the side of the lever. Pic 4.

It can also be seen in Pic 4 that the cranked end of the torsion spring is in place (yellow arrow). The straight end of the torsion spring sits against the connector base (Blue arrow) and the pin shaft can continue through the other side of the base. (White arrow)

If you have everything in place at this point, then press the pin shaft into its final position, pushing it through the second side of the lever and the base as shown in Pic 5.

You should now be able to press the lever down against the torsion spring tension and have it return to its normal position when released. Pic 6 shows the pressed down position.

Well that fun bit is done, so lets carry on. Blink

Bring the rear chest assembly back to the table from issue 81, along with the button plate and two springs supplied in this issue. Pic 7 and position the parts as shown in Pic 8.

Bring the previous assembly of the lever and base back and carefully position it over the button and springs. Pic 9. (You must have all four pins inserted into the four ends of the springs).

Tricky Alert:

Keeping all the parts in the correct place, press the lever/base down against the springs and secure the base in position using two HM screws. Pic 10.

The assembled parts should now be the same as those in Pic 11.

That ends this update with the rear chest shown in Pic 12.

My apologies for the extended text, but I`m a belt and braces man who likes to give as much detail as possible.Flapper LOL

See you soon for the next update on a new pack.
