Good evening everyone,

Luckily, I was granted some time to work on the Victory over the last two weekends.

I continued with the gallery and got more window frames done. Also, with the help of some scraper tools (purchased), and after a lot of trail and error, I finally managed to get some decent mouldings for some more detail to the gallery panel.

To get the positions for the mouldings correct I had to temporarely fix the balusters and spacers.

Sorry, but I couldn't upload any pictures, as a disc space error message appeared trying to do so.

As this error message has been addressed by admin already, as I just found out, It'll have to wait till tomorrow then. Fingers crossed...Cool

Thanks Derek!

Initially, I thought the error message had something to do with my computer and I had to make sure for myself that I actually still have storage of my ownBlink LOL

Anyway, here we go... more gallery window frames and fitting of mouldings

To get an idea for where the lower moulding has to sit, I put the lower baluster in place as well. And for fun, the some of the ornaments as well, to get a picture of he eventual end result.

I wasn't sure, it the gold will clash with the wood but I think it does look quite nice...

You`re Welcome.BigGrin

Personally I have never used one of those strip wood shapers, but the results you have obtained look really good, well done. Cool Cool

Look forward to seeing some more progress as your time permits. ThumpUp

Not having a plan and making things up as I go, makes it challenging for me to plan ahead.

Since I have the cut outs, which make it possible to peek into the lower and middle gun deck, I wanted to add some details there as well and not just inside the gallery.

I figured, that if go ahead with laying/planking the upper gun deck already, it'll be hard to have good access to add more details. Bear in mind, I already have limited access as all the detail work is more of an afterthought after getting the inspiration from all of my fellow modellersBigGrin

So, here I am digging another rabbit hole...

First thing, making gratings for the middle gun deck.

To get the dimensions right, or at least as close as possible, I used drawing from the book HMS VICTORY by Alan McGowan as a reference, which I'm sure many of you have in your library as well - very helpful!

The quality of the provided gratings was less than satisfactory as the alignment was so out that a neat finish was literally impossible!

Luckily, there's sooo many after market products available and gratings is something i did not want to scratch build!

Now I just needed to remove the planking and cut holes. I left a ledge for the gratings to sit on. I won't glue them down just yet so that I can take them off when ever need for easier access to the lower deck.

With that, I can now start adding some details to the lower deck.

First up, the grating and simulated railing/stairs to the Orlop deck.

The white mesh comes from an aquarium media bag I had lying around. It's not very dense but dense enough to give the idea of s security netting around the stairs.

Hi Derek,

Here's the link to the book.

https://www.amazon.co.uk...storation/dp/1840675322

I bought it used from Amazon for less than 20 quid as I just need it for reference. I don't think there's any new copies out there anymore. However, the copy I received was pretty much in brand new condition ThumpUp

Cheers

Thanks Odo, BigGrin

Found a 1st edition, A1 book A1 cover so basically "unread", hence paid somewhat more but it won`t get heavy use so should hold its value.

Looks like a good reference guide.

Another little detail for the lower gun deck is another grating and the the top housing of the chain pumps.

I only did the pair in front of the main mast as the one would be really hard to see.
