Thanks again everyone for your kind and encouraging comments  As usual, a quick step-by-step update about the current state of my build. I think I've now managed to finish the visible details on the middle gun deck for the cut out section. I had the grating in place already, so the next step was to build the upper part of the fore capstan, which I build pretty much the same way as the lower part... Odo attached the following image(s):

To make the flat cone shaped top of the capstan, I made use of my stand in 'lathe' and table sander. Odo attached the following image(s):

I mis-calculated the overall height on the capstan and had to alter the tip of it so that it'll fit in place and not touch the floor of the upper gun deck. The perspective of the picture implies for the capstan to be way too high but it should fit... I'll soon start planking the upper gun deck so i'll find out in due course. I also added the wall of the galley. I wanted the simulated hinges to be brass, but they didn't stand out much so I painted them black. The galley only has two wall in an L-shape. I allowed myself this little cheat here as the third wall wouldn't be visible at all. Odo attached the following image(s):

Hi guys, not much progress again but a big victory for me (pun intended  ): As it was an afterthought to add lighting to my model, I didn't think of a way of how and where to fit the power supply of the lighting nor how to make the circuit in the first place when I started the model years ago. Also, soldering is new to me and I new I had to learn it in order to get lighting where I want it. Hence, the time since my last post as I had to take some youtube courses in soldering and generally figuring out how to do all the lighting stuff. I even reached a point of where I was almost about to scrap the lighting idea all together. I took big inspiration from Olha Batchvarov, who's such an amazing ship modeller - chapeau! - which encouraged me to keep going with the lighting. I'm still due to receive more LED's so my goal for now was to being able to switch on provisional lights from an external power source, which will be hidden the the stand at some point in the future... The customised circuit board is currently positioned on the upper gun deck just before the gallery. It'll allow for 8 lighting circuits to be supplied of which I have 5 planed for already 2 for the cutout section and 3 for each gallery level. As the circuit board will be 'buried' under the quarter deck, adding additional lighting at a later stage will be impossible so I have to think of possible additional lighting placements very soon! After removing the frame supports at the cutout section, I had to finish of the deck planking. I didn't quite manage to match the existing deck stain with the new stain, but it's close enough and with the addition of the crew and cannon later I'm sure no one will notice Odo attached the following image(s):

Initially, I wanted to leave the cannon carriage wheels in brass but then it felt like that there was too much brass on the carriages after fitting the eyebolts as well, so I decided to finish them in black. Odo attached the following image(s):

When i finished the upper deck planking, I realised that I went on autopilot and just used the planks as described in the instructions, which are 5mm wide rather than the 3mm planks I used for the decks beneath... too late and too much risk to remove them again as I didn't want to damage the details on the middle gun deck. Another issue I came across is that the gun ports for the complete cannon with carriage sit very low with barely any space to the decking. I guess this would be my mistake by maybe getting the measurements for the gun port jig wrong earlier in the build. Therefore, the rears of the cannons I use have to be raised so high that in order for the cannons to be centre in their ports, they have to point downwards. I managed to minimise this by turning the cannons upside down (off centre hole in gun barrel is now on the upper third). This works okay on the port side but since I have even lower sitting gun ports on the starboard side, I'll have to remove the top tier of the carriages so that the barrel can sit much lower in the carriage itself...
