Hi All,
Its been a while, but Pack 3 turned up this morning. This pack will cover Issues 6 - 8 and will extend the side to side working of the eyes and start the working for the eyelid motions.
This update Issue 6 will complete the sideways eye motion.
Parts supplied.....Pic 1.
You will also need the main head assembly, the partially built gearbox from the last update and the temporary battery box to test the eye movement.
To start bring the partially built gearbox back to the table and place the round shaft (6-06) into the box as shown in Pic 2. Then add the gear (6-03) with the smaller gear uppermost onto the shaft. Pic 3. Now add the gear with the hexagonal shaft. Pic 4. Its time now to grease the gears. As the grease will be needed in future issues make the smallest nick in one corner of the foil pack and using a cocktail stick (or similar) put a small amount of grease in all the places indicated in Pic 5.(Green circles).
Place the servomotor cover (6-01) over the gear train Pic 6 and fix it in place using 3 x P-TP screws Pic 7. Then place the eye wheel (6-02) onto the hexagonal shaft where it extends through the gear box. It must be in the orientation shown in Pic 8.
Carefully place the gearbox and eye wheel into the underside of the head assembly. If it is correctly positioned the pin on the eye wheel will be positioned as shown in Pic 9. Then hold the gearbox in place, turn the head assembly over and fix the gearbox using 2 x P-TP screws. Pic 10.
That completes the construction for this issue. You can now plug the battery box wires into the motor plug. Red to red and Black to black. Switch the battery box "ON" and the eyes should move from side to side.
Note: Its a little noisy as the motor will run continually until switched "OFF". I think in the final construction the eyes will only move a couple of times and will also be encased in the full head assembly, reducing the noise.
Follow this link to see a short video of the eyes in sideways movement.

See you soon for the Issue 7 update.

Hi All,
Here with the Issue 7 update, but not a lot to report.
In this update we add the eyelid servo mounting base.
Parts supplied.....Pic 1.
The servo motor mount sits on four posts. The front two are inside the right to left (white) slider and the other two are toward the read of the head unit. Position the base and secure it with 4 x P-TP screws as shown in Pic 2.
To come in Issue 8: We start building the motor and gears that will operate the eyelid up and down movement.
See you soon.

Hi All,
Last update for this Pack 3. Issue 8.
In this update, we will add the motor and gearbox for the eyelid movement.
Parts supplied.....Pic 1.
Please note: The greasing points in the instructions are either incorrect or non-existent. So please follow the marked points in my directions.
Start by placing a shaft (8-05) as in Pic 2 and add a little grease as indicated. Then add the gear (8-03) onto the shaft, with the gear teeth downwards and the raised round section uppermost, as in Pic 3.
Now position the second shaft (8-05) and grease as indicated in Pic 4. Then position the gear (8-02) on the shaft with the smaller gear downwards and the cup shaped gear upwards as shown in Pic 5. Then apply some grease to the small lower gear. Pic 6.
We now turn our attention to the motor (8-06) with the gear (8-04) attached to the drive spindle. Position the motor (wires uppermost), engaging the small pinion gear with the gear (8-02) and apply grease as indicated in Pic 7.
Take the Servomotor mount cover (8-01) and feed the wires from the motor through the rear hole. Pic 8. Then position the cover and press it down firmly, so the cover clips over the motor. Pic 9. Then secure the cover using 3 x P-TP screws. Pic 10.
That concludes the last update for this pack. Pic 11. In the final Pic I have indicated where the drive for the eyelid movement extends through the gearbox casing.
See you as soon as the next pack arrives.
