Hi All, BigGrin

Well Postie got through with the ISS pack 5, late this morning. Cool So thought I`d get the first update out ASAP.

Now I`m going to change tack a little bit here, because as you know I like to tell what`s going on in more detail. (Where I can).

Pack 5, covers issue 15 - 20 and in Issue 15 we build the "Cupola". In the following issues we build other sections of the station in the same vicinity. I have therefore taken a snip of the NASA schematic, reference that area. Pic 1. Should I suddenly disappear, then its a fair bet I`ve been deported to the US. LOL LOL LOL

Ok, so parts supplied.....Pic 2. Blink

This whole issue is press fit parts, so care with orientation and pressure applied is essential.

Start by pressing the clear windows section 12B inside the main frame 12A. These parts will only engage in one orientation. Pic 3. Next add part 12C to the frame. There is a small square hole in the frame where this part fits, but the angled area of the part must be against the window frame, circled in Pic 4.

Keep the three part assembly and the part 11B safely until the next update. Pic 5.

See you all soon for the update of Issue 16. ThumpUp

Hi All, BigGrin

This is the update for Issue 16. In this update we start the build of "NODE 3" and attach the "Cupola" we built in Issue 15.

It will be noted from the schematic I posted in the last update that the airlock at the end of Node 3 is different on the model. This would be due to the ever changing Space Station over the years.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly (Cupola) from Issue 15 and the unused airlock part 11B from the same issue.

Take the parts 10A and 11A supplied with this issue. Position the airlock part 11A in place with part 10A, Pic 2. Then place the part 11B from issue 15 as shown in Pic 3 and fix all three parts together using an MS4 screw, Pic 4.

Bring the Cupola assembly from issue 15 to the table, Pic 5. Position the Cupola onto the outside of the assembly you just made, Pic 6 and then whilst holding the parts together, fix them with 2 x AS5 screws, Pic 7.

That`s all for this update, Pic 8. Store the assembly safely till the next update.

Hi All, BigGrin

Its time for the Issue 17 update of the ISS. Cool

In this update we will assemble the Bigelow Expandable Airlock Module (BEAM) and attach it to the NODE 3 assembly from the last update.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the Node 3 assembly from issue 16.

Start by pressing the parts 13A and 13B together, Pic 2 and note that there are not any screws to hold the parts together at this point.

The next task is to fit the detail parts 13C and 13D to the "BEAM", these parts will only fit in one orientation as the parts and holes they go in are stepped. In Pic 3 I have indicated the stepped holes. So now fit the details as shown in Pic 4. That completes the "BEAM" Pic 5, so now bring the issue 16 assembly to the table and position the "BEAM" into Node 3 as shown in Pic 6. Then fix the "BEAM" into position using an MS4 screw as indicated in Pic 7.

That completes this update, Pic 8. In the next update we will finish assembling the Node 3 unit and connect it to the space station.

See you soon. ThumpUp

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we are again with the update for Issue 18.

In this update we will will complete the construction of Node 3 and connect it to the Space Station.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly of Node 3 from the last update and the main Space Station.

Start by adding the second half of Node 3 part 10B to the assembly from the last update, Pic 2 and fix it in place using 3 x MS4 screws, Pic 3.

There are now three parts to add that complete the outer surface and act as screw covers, parts 10 C,D and E. Due to their shape and some having slots in them these parts can only fit in one place. 10C as in Pic 4, 10E in Pic 5 and 10D in Pic 6.

That completes the construction of Node 3, underside shown in Pic 7.

To finish this update fit Node 3 into its position on the Space Station, Pic 8 and secure it there using an MS4 screw, Pic 9. That completes this update. I have added Pic 10 and 11 to show how the Station now looks.

See you soon for the next update.

Hi All, BigGrin

Time for the update of issue 19 where we construct the Z1-ITS (no I don`t know what that stands for LOL ).

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

Start by positioning part 14G onto 14B, so that 14G sits in the channel of the same shape, Pic 2 and secure them from the inside using an AS5 screw as in Pic 3.

Keep the assembly with the inside facing upwards and place parts 14D and 14C as in Pic 4 and 5. Now position part 14A in place, Pic 6 and fix it in place using 4 x AS5 screws, Pic 7.

Only two of the four screws just inserted are covered over at this time, the other two get covered over in the next update, (issue 20). So press both parts 14E and 14F into the positions shown in Pic 8. Note: The part 14E has the missing part of the circular detail of 14A, so needs to be orientated correctly.

That ends this update, Pic 9.

I`ll see you soon for the final update for this pack with issue 20.ThumpUp

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we are with the final update for this pack of the ISS with Issue 20. In this update we will add sub-assemblies to the station and complete Node 1.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the Z1 ITS (Issue 19), the airlock with the attached stowage platform (Issue 14) and the Space Station.

Start by pressing part 14H (supplied) into the holes in the Z1 ITS (Issue 19) as shown in Pic 2. This covers the last two screws in the Z1 ITS unit.

Next fit the Z1 ITS unit into the upper half of Node 1 part 6B (supplied), Pic 3 and fix the parts together using an AS5 screw, Pic 4.

Now bring the airlock with the platform (Issue 14) and the Space Station to the table. Position the airlock into the station as shown in Pic 5. Then place the previous assembly over the top, Pic 6. This will hold the airlock in place and fix it using 2 x MS4 screws, Pic 7. The screws are then covered by pressing parts 6C and 6D in place, Pic 8.

That`s all for this update and pack, so will see you when the next delivery lands.

I`ll leave you with Pics 9 - 11 showing the Space Station as it is at this stage.
