Issue 21

Fitting the Arm Balls and Assembling the Upper Suspension Arm

Using 2 x WM screws, attach the lower arm ball (21G) to the bottom of the steering spindle arm (21F) and the upper arm ball (21G) to the top of the steering spindle arm, pictures 2 and 3.

Fit the shaft (21D) to the shock absorber mount (21C) with 2 x CM screws, picture 4. Take the assembly and attach it to the front left upper suspension arm (21E) with 2 x EM screws, picture 5.

Fitting the Shock Absorber
Insert the shock absorber coil spring (21B) between the front right lower suspension arm and front chassis, picture 6. Insert the shock absorber rod through the centre of the spring from the bottom and securing it with an AIM screw from the top of the chassis, picture 7. Secure the rod at the bottom by using 2 x AM screws, picture 8.

Fitting the Upper Arm
Fit the steering spindle arm to the lower suspension arm with an AIM screw, picture 9. Finally, secure the shock absorber mount to the front chassis using 2 x CM screws and an AIM screw, picture 10.

Picture 11 shows the complete assembly for this issue.

Issue 22

Building and Fitting the Steering Mechanism

Take the track rod arm (22A) and fix the idler arm (22D) and pitman arm (22E) to each end using 2 x UM screws. Note: both the arms have an “R” and “L” on them, pictures 2 and 3.

Secure the left (22B) and right (22C) tie rods to the track rod with 2 x AIM screws, picture 4.

Note: The magazine illustrates using 2 x AM screws for this process. You must use the AIM screws provided.

Next, secure the tie rod arms to the steering spindle arms, securing them with 2 x AIM screws, pictures 5 and 6.

Secure the pitman arm to the front chassis with a CM screw as shown in picture 7. Picture 8 shows the complete assembly.

Take the wheel you assembled in issue 2 along with the brake front (22G) and secure it to the back of the wheel with 2 x AM screws as shown in picture 9. Now take the front left brake line (21I) and fix it to the brake rear (22F) by push fitting it onto the pin, picture 10. Note: I used a dab of quick drying glue to hold it in place. Now push fit the assembly onto the steering spindle ensuring the part is fitted as shown in picture 11.

Place the wheel assembly onto the arm and secure it with the washer (22H) and an FM screw, picture 12.

Finally, push fit the middle batman cap, from issue 2, into the middle of the wheel.

Take the outer wheel (23A) and lay it so the exterior side is facing down. Place the centre wheel (23B) on top of this piece, picture 2. These two parts will be secured in the next stage.

Take the wheel assembly you were working on in the last stage. Push fit the assembly into the tyre (24A), picture 2. Insert the inner wheel (24B) and secure it with 5 x CP screws, picture 3.

Issue 25

Fitting the Brake Line and Wheel.

Take the front right brake line (25F) and fix it to the brake rear (22D) by push fitting it onto the pin, picture 2. Note: I used a dab of quick drying glue to hold it in place. Now push fit the assembly onto the steering spindle ensuring the part is fitted as shown in picture 3.


Take the wheel you assembled in the previous issue along with the brake front (25A) and secure it to the back of the wheel with 2 x AM screws as shown in picture 4.

Place the wheel assembly onto the arm and secure it with the washer (25E) and an FM screw, picture 5. Push fit the middle batman cap into the middle of the wheel, pictures 6 and 7.

Pictures 8 and 9 show the complete assembly for this issue.

Take the left middle frame (26A) and attach it to the left rear frame (26B) using 2 x CM screws, picture 2.

Take the assembly and secure it to the front chassis and rear crossmember using 2 x CM screws as shown in pictures 3 and 4.
