[quote=admin]This is over on Ships of Scale. It’s a stunning kit bash of the SOS. Have a look!

Hello fellow shipmates!
I am the builder of the bashed model on Ships of Scale. At present, 3D models are being created in Blender 3D for 3-D resign printing all the decorations for the Sovereign, which will be replacing all the DeAgostini castings with historically accurate decorations based on John Payne's famous engraving of the ship in 1637. I welcome you all to visit Ships of Scale Forum and question and comment on my build log. Originally, the plan was to build the kit right out of the box, but things got out of control after researching the differences between the kit and research sources, and the model turned quickly into a full scratch build on a bashed hull design.
Curently on the SoS forum, CharlieT is posting a long thread on HMS Sovereign of the Seas, including the most detailed and up to date information from the latest research on the ship, starting with the hull design. This information is gold to all model builders and includes lots of information from the late Frank Fox, an expert in 17th century ship design. For those interested in accurizing this model kit, beware of incorrect information on the Sovereign published in Sephton's book, and ESPECIALLY John McKay's latest book, which looks pretty with all the illustrations, but is horribly incorrect on the hull, decorations, and many details. If you base your model on McKay's book, your model will be way off course. Do your homework, read the forums, and learn when is true about this ship and what is false before you build, and as you build!
