Hi All, BigGrin

Well its another delivery of the Big 1:6 Mustang, that covers issues 44 - 48.

In this first update for issue 44, we add to the central chassis and place some parts of the parking brake onto its underside.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the chassis as built up to issue 43.

Start with the chassis as built so far and add the central plate 44-A supplied with this issue as shown in Pic 2. Then with the plate in place, it is fixed using 6 x DS02 screws and a PS11 screw, all indicated in Pic 3.

Working now on the underside of the chassis, take the parking brake line 44-B noting it has a thin pin and a slightly wider post that will take a screw. The thin pin rests in the small hole in the chassis, while the screw post fits in the larger hole. If correctly placed the longer rod of the part points towards the front of the chassis and stops just short of another locating hole in the chassis, Pic 4. Hold the part in place and fix it from the other side of the chassis, using a PS14 screw as in Pic 5. Returning to the underside of the chassis, press the parking brake hook carefully into place, Pic 6. NOTE: that this part only fits in one orientation.

That`s it for this update, where Pic 7 shows how the underside of the chassis looks now. See you soon for issue 45`s update.

Hi All, BigGrin

Time for the update for Issue 45.Cool

In this issue we build and add the propshaft, which fits from the rear axle to the gearbox.

It doesn`t happen very often that I disagree with the kit parts, but on this occasion I think it is needed. A propshaft by definition rotates and for some reason the designers have decided to mount the propshaft to the chassis via two posts screwed to the chassis. Confused Confused Should the posts used be covered up by later parts, then I will leave well alone, but if not I will work on an alternative method.

So for now, I`ll work with the instructions as printed.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the main chassis from issue 44.

Place the two halves of the propshaft 45A and 45B as shown in Pic 2. Then move 45A over 45B (no rotation required)and press the parts together. Now fix the parts together using 3 x PS05 screws as shown in Pic 3.

Now place the end of the propshaft that has the flat lug, into the upperpart of the "T" shaped slot in the rear axle. Turn the propshaft through 90 degrees and press it down to the bottom of the "T". The locating posts on the propshaft should now sit in position with the chassis, Pic 4.

Hold the propshaft in place and fix it to the chassis using 2 x PS05 screws as shown in Pic 5.

That`s it for this update, but I`ll be back soon with the update for issue 46.

Hi All, BigGrin

This is the latest update for the Mustang, Issue 46. In this update we start building the gearbox.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

Firstly, I would suggest that builders identify the three gearbox connectors 46 D-F and note that each one has different sized ends, so they can only fit one way.

Take the gearbox piece 46A and fit the connector 46E, Pic 2 and then add the connector 46F as in Pic 3.

Now, press fit the small pin of the throttle valve plate 46C into the upper hole at the rear end of the gearbox, Pic 4. With the plate in place you can now fit the third connector 46D, Pic 5.

Finally, take 2 x PS28 screws and fit them into the posts on the crankcase cover 46B as in Pic 6.

That`s all for this update, Pic 7. The gearbox will be continued in issue 47 that is coming soon.

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we go with the update for Issue 47. In this update we complete the Gearbox and mount it to the chassis.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the main chassis and the parts from the first half of the gearbox, that were assembled in the previous update.

Bring the main gearbox section from the previous update to the table and slot the gearbox front 47C into it as shown in Pic 2. Then take the part 46B (also from the last update) that has the two screws inserted and slide it into place at the top of the gearbox as shown in Pic 3. Now place the second gearbox side 47A into place. This will now keep the top plate in position, so you can fix the two halves of the gearbox together using 2 x DS01 screws. Shown in Pic 4.

Please Note: We now move to mounting the gearbox to the chassis and Prop-shaft. Personnaly I have decided NOT to remove the fixing posts of the Prop-shaft. Reasons: 1) they will be hard to even notice as they are inside the transmission tunnel. 2) the end of the Prop-shaft that goes into the rear axle is in a keyway slot and may displace. 3) the most relevant to subscribers, is that if you change your mind should parts get damaged, you will need to contact CS for replacements. They will require pictures of the damaged part/parts, at which point you will be charged for replacements.Crying

So, following the official route, slide the gearbox onto the end of the Prop-shaft in the orientation shown in Pic 5. Then hold the gearbox in place and fix it to the chassis using 2 x DS02 screws, Pic 6.

The next part to be added is the gearbox protection arch 47B. This part has a cutout in it that will fit over the handbrake mechanism, on the underside of the chassis. See Pic 7. Now fit the arch 47B as shown in Pic 8 and 9. Then fix the arch in place through the chassis using 2 x PS05 screws, Pic 10.

That`s it for this update, Pic 11. In the next and last update for this pack, we will come to appreciate the full size of this beast, when we add the forward chassis.

Hi All, BigGrin

Its time for the last update of this pack, with Issue 48. At the end of this update you will be able to appreciate the size of this model (73cms/28.75 ins), even though the length will increase when the bodywork is added.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. Also needed for this update is the main chassis from issue 47.

Bring the main chassis from issue 47 to the table, along with the part 48A supplied with this issue, Pic 2. Engage the parts together, making sure that they lay flat to each other, Pic 3. Now fix the parts together using 4 x DS02 screws, Pic 4. Note: I found it easier to fit all four screws, before fully tightening them.

That`s all there is for this update and pack, Pic 5. So I`ll see you as soon as the next delivery arrives.
