Hi All, BigGrin

So Pack 10 has arrived and it covers issues 45 - 50. In these issues we will be fitting some of the large double solar panels together, make another large double solar panel and add to the base extension we started earlier.

Issue 45.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the large double solar panels from issues 44 and 4, plus the main spar and base assemblies from issue 41.

To start take one of the double solar panels already assembled and take note of the three small holes indicated in Pic 2. Then gently press one of the WIRE 1 parts into place as in Pic 3. Repeat that action and fix the other WIRE 1 part onto the other double solar panel, Pic 4. NOTE: Should the WIRE 1 parts be a bit loose, then a very small spot of super glue will cure the problem.

Now position the end of either double solar panel into the grooves in part 26F, as shown in Pic 5. Bring the main spar section from issue 41 to the table and keeping the solar panel correctly engaged with part 26F, turn them over and place them into the open side of the spar assembly, Pic 6. Whilst holding all the parts firmly together, turn them over and fix the all together using 2 x MS9 screws, Pic 7 and 2 x MS4 screws as in Pic 8. Finally for this section add the part 26G to the top of the spar section, Pic 9. NOTE: Use very small spots of super glue if the part is a bit loose. Your solar panel should now look like the one in Pic 10. Store the assembly carefully.

Take the base assembly from issue 41 and place it face down on the table. Press the part BASE 2 into position and fix it using 2 x BIG AS8 screws, Pic 11. Then press the BASE 11 part into place and fix that using a BIG AS8 screw, Pic 12.

That`s all for this update, so I`ll see you soon for issue 46.

Regards

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we go with the update for issue 46. We will add trim pieces to the base parts from issue 45 and then add a piece to the spar that has the double solar panel attached, also last worked on in issue 45.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the two assemblies from issue 45.

Start with the base assembly and add the 3 x BASE 12 parts to trim the edge of the base, Pic 2. Note: The positioning of these parts must be as shown as there are other base sections to be added later.

Now take the main spar section with the double solar panel attached and press the part 26H into place, Pic 3. I found this to be a snug fit, so it must be positioned straight with the spar to fit.

That`s all for this update, I`ll see you soon for the next one.

Hi All, BigGrin

Time for the issue 47 update. In this update we start the construction of another double solar panel.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

Take the main connector 27A and position the solar panel 3J onto the two small posts. Pic 2. Add the cover 3E, Pic 3 and fix it in place using 2 x MS4 screws as in Pic 4.

Finally press the WIRE 2 part into place on the main connector 27A, Pic 5. As before with the WIRE 1 parts, if the WIRE 2 part is a bit loose then very small spots of super glue will solve the problem.

That`s all for this update, Pic 6. Further construction of this solar panel in issues 48 and 49.

Hi All, BigGrin

First off I must apologise for the delay in the ISS. I had a rogue part, so had to wait for a replacement. Blink

This is update 48 and will add a second solar panel the one from issue 47.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly from issue 47.

Start by adding the solar panel 3F onto the posts of the end bar of the assembly from issue 47, Pic 2. Then place the cover plate 3D over the solar panel, Pic 3 and fix it in situ using 2 x MS4 screws as shown in Pic 4. Finally add the centre spar 3C between the solar panels, Pic 5.

That`s it for this update, see you soon for issue 49.

Hi All, BigGrin

Its time for the issue 49 update. In this update we will complete the double solar panel that we have been constructing recently.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1, you will also need the solar panel assembly from issue 48.

Place the end bar 3G onto the end of the centre spar 3B and fix the two parts together using an MS4 screw as shown in Pic 2. Position the resulting assembly with the assembly from issue 48, Pic 3. Join the centre spar parts together and then press the solar panels onto the posts of the end bar 3G, as indicated in Pic 4.

Now place the end covers 3i and 3H on top of the solar panel ends and fix them in place using 4 x MS4 screws, Pic 5.

Finally, tighten an MB7 screw into the post of the solar panel Pic 6. This will tension the flexible panels, but DO NOT over tighten the screw or damage will occur to the parts. The completed panel is shown in Pic 7, store it carefully for use at a later date.

Hi All, BigGrin

We have made it to the end of another pack and this time with issue 50. In this update we will complete the first four panelled solar array and carry on with the base extension.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1, you will also need the double solar panel from issue 4 and the solar panel attached to the spar from issue 46.

Ok, so you need the solar panel from issue 4 and you have two panels to choose from if you have not labelled them. The two panels have different posts to attach them, so select the one shown in Pic 2 with the "tick".

Next place the panel into the assembly from issue 46 as shown in Pic 3. Then position the part 26i from this issue into the spar between the solar panels, Pic 4 and fix it in place using 6 x MS4 screws as indicated in Pic 5. Now press fit the part 26G into place on the centre spar, Pic 6. That`s it for now with this solar array, Pic 7. Store it very carefully.

Take the base assembly from issue 45 and the part BASE 1 supplied in this issue, Pic 8 and press the new part into place as shown in Pic 9. Flip the assembly over to fix them together. My preference is to locate the nuts and bolts first as in Pic 10 and then fit the 2 x AS8 screws, Pic 11.

That completes the assemblies for this stage and ends this pack, Pic 12. I`ll see you again as soon as the next delivery arrives.
