Hi All, BigGrin

Pack 14 of the big Mustang has arrived and it covers issues 59 - 63. In these issues we concentrate on building the dashboard and because of the scale there is some really nice detailing.

In this issue we add the grilles of the windscreen vents, into the top of the dashboard.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

Before you start its worth taking a minute to look at one of the grilles 59-B. They each have four tabs and each tab has two fold notches on the inner side, Pic 2. It is also worth noting that the tabs are a different distance from each end of the grille and will therefore only fit one way round.

Take the first grille, place it on the table with the fold points of the tabs facing upwards. Use a pair of flat nosed pliers and fold each tab upwards at the root of the tab, Pic 3. The second fold point is now on the inside of each tab. Fit the four tabs of the grille through the dashboard 59-A, making sure its the right way round to fit properly, Pic 4. Hold the grille in position and turn the dash over and then fold the tabs at the second point "outwards" to lock the grille in place, Pic 5.

Pic 6 shows the first grille in situ. Repeat the above operation for the second grille, shown in Pic 7.

That`s it for this issue, Pic 8. See you soon for the next update.

Hi All, BigGrin

Time for the next update. This one for issue 60 will come in two parts to save picture scrolling, but I will post the second half straight after the first.

We will be adding more details to the dashboard with Parts supplied.....Pic 1 as usual. You will also need the assembly from issue 59.

Issue 60 Part A:

We start with the glove compartment lid 60-A. This part has two pins on the lower edge, which need a careful firm press to fit it into the right hand side of the dashboard from issue 59, Pic 2. Now close the lid to check the fit as in Pic 3.

Next part to fit is the ignition barrel 60-F, which has a lug on its side so will only fit one way, Pic 4. Hold the part in place and fix it from the other side of the dashboard using a PS21 screw, Pic 5.

Now its time to fit the exterior light switch, where the part will not be a tight fit at this point as it will be a working switch. Position the part 60-E in place as shown in Pic 6 and fix it in place using a PS17 screw as in Pic 7. NOTE: As mentioned the part will not be a tight fit yet, so DO NOT keep tightening the screw. The slight movement in the part will be how the switch is operated that will be fixed in place later in this update.

The last addition for this part of the update is the fuse cover 60-C. Position it as shown in Pic 8 and fix it from the reverse side using a PS11 screw, Pic 9.

Part B coming very soon.

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we are with Part B of the issue 60 update. Parts are those left over from Part A and you will also need the assembly from Part A.

Issue 60 Part B:

Take the glove compartment base 60-B and position it on the reverse side of the dashboard, Pic 1. Then fix it in place using 3 x PS25 screws as indicated in Pic 2.

Now, working from the reverse side of the dashboard, place the wired button switch 60-I as shown in Pic 3. Place the switch retainer 60-H over the switch and hold it in place using a PS25 screw, Pic 4. Turn the dashboard over and press the exterior light swith fitted in Part A and you should hear the button switch click. The switch is press-on, press off type and will not be tested until later in the build.

Next, press fit the parking brake lever 60-G into position as in Pic 5, then add the fresh air ventilation knob 60-D, just to the right of the parking brake lever as indicated in Pic 6.

That`s it for this issue, Pic 7. Lots more to add in the following issues.

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we go with the update for issue 61, where we will build up the next detailing for the dashboard with the clocks and dials.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

Take the dial lens holder 61-B and the adhesive dials 61-G and note that the adhesive dials are laid out in the same pattern as they will fit on the holder, Pic 2. Place the dials as straight and central as possible as shown in Pics 3 and 4.

In the small bags you will find 5 lenses (2 large 61-E and 3 small 61-D) and 5 dial centre fixings (2 large 61-F and 3 small 61-C). Fit the long post of each dial fixing into a relatively sized lens, an example of which can be seen in Pic 5. Then press the large lenses with their fixings into place as in Pic 6 and the smaller ones as shown in Pic 7.

Now press the dial holder onto the two posts on the reverse side of the dashboard trim 61-A as indicated in Pic 8.

That`s it for this update, Pic 9 shows the dials from the front and Pic 10 shows the whole dashboard trim that will be assembled to the dashboard later.

Hi All, BigGrin

The next update for the Mustang is here with issue 62. In this update we continue with the detailing of the dashboard.

This update will come in two parts, A and B to save picture scrolling.

Part A:

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the assembly from issue 61.

To start, take notice that the stickers 62-F are laid out in the format needed for the emblem holder 62-C, Pic 2. Remove each sticker carefully from the backing paper and position them as centrally as possible in the emblem holder, Pic 3 and keep it to hand as you will need it in a minute or two.

Retrieve the dashboard trim assembly from issue 61 and add the dashboard inlay 62-A, making sure that the three pins locate correctly, Pic 4. Now, turn the assembly over and press fit the turn signal lenses 62-D and 62-E as shown in Pic 5.

Finally place the emblem holder from earlier into its recess in the right hand side of the facia as shown in Pic 6, then fix it in place from the rear side using 2 x PS21 screws, Pic 7.

See you very soon for Part B.

Hi All, BigGrin

I`m back for Part B of the issue 62 update.

Part B:

Parts are those left over from Part A and you will also need the assembly from Part A and the Main dashboard from issue 60.

Start by inserting the trim into the main dashboard, aligning the three fixing points as you do, Pic 1. Then hold the parts together and from the rear, fix them together using 3 x PS25 screws as indicated in Pic 2.

Next use 2 x PS20 screws to secure the indicators to the rear of the dials, Pic 3.

Place the rear dial cover 62B over the back of the dials as shown in Pic 4, fixing it in place using 2 x PS20 screws, shown in Pic 5.

That`s all for this update, Pic 6. I`ll see you soon for more detailing and the mounting of the dashboard in issue 63`s update.

Hi All, BigGrin

The issue 63 update is here and it is the last one for this pack. It will come in two parts A and B due to the amount of pics there are.

Part A:

The parts supplied.....Pic 1, you will also need the dashboard from issue 62.

Take the self adhesive stickers 63-J and fix them to the radio front 63-D and the centre dials holder 63-C as shown in Pic 2. Now add the radio front to the radio body 63-B, Pic 3 and then press the radio buttons 2 x 63-F into the assembly as in Pic 4. Finally add the transparent radio cover 63I to complete the radio assembly as shown in Pic 5.

Retrieve the dashboard from issue 62 and position the radio in its place as in Pic 6, then hold the radio in place and fix it from the rear using 2 x PS25 screws, Pic 7.

We will now assemble the central dials. Place the two dial lenses 63-E onto the centre dials frame 63-H with the fixing post pointing upwards, Pic 8. Keep the parts in that position and add the dial holder over the fixing post with the dials facing downwards, Pic 9. Finally place the centre dial housing 63-G on top of the assembled parts as shown in Pic 10, then fix all the parts together with a PS25 screw as in Pic 11.

That completes the assembly of the centre dials, Pic 12 and Part A of this update. See you very soon for Part B.

Hi All, BigGrin

Back again for Part B of issue 63, even though the forum is on a go slow. The problem is in hand with the powers that be, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Part B:

Parts for this update are those left over from Part A including the centre dial assembly, plus you will also need the dashboard from issue 63 part A and the front floor assembly from issue 58, the end of pack 13.

Start with the dashboard and the rear dashboard cover 63-A. On the rear of the dashboard there are two posts, where the one on the right as you look at them has a lug on the underside. The holes in the part 63-A will only therefore fit onto the dashboard one way as indicated in Pic 1. Position the part 63-A onto the posts of the dashboard as in Pic 2 and fix it in place using 2 x PS25 screws, Pic 3.

Now whilst still at the back of the dashboard, pass the tab at the top of the centre dials through the lower dash and fix it in place using a PS25 screw, Pic 4.

That completes the dashboard to a point where we can fit it to the front floor assembly from issue 58, but it is important to note the mounting points of the dashboard. So look at the rear of the dashboard and note the two tabs (one at each outer side) and the two screw fixing plates that extend from the rear of the dashboard all of which are indicated in Pic 5.

Slide the dashboard into place, engaging the side tabs and screw fixing plates as shown in Pics 6 and 7. When you are satisfied that everything is correctly placed, fix the dashboard to the front floor section using 2 x PS11 screws as in Pic 8.

That`s it for this update, where Pic 9 shows the drivers side of the dashboard and front floor and Pic 10 shows the whole assembly. See you again when pack 15 arrives. Until then have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Woot ThumpUp
