Issue 23

As you can see, I have taken over this build from Derek as he explained in his last two posts. I have carefully studied what has been done before, for my own benefit, so I can have a good idea what and how it has all been put together.

With all the very small parts and cables that get put together, I am very surprised on how well Derek has done with this build with only having partial sight. I was struggling at one stage with full sight. Flapper

Anyway, here we go with the next pack.Laugh

Picture 1 shows the parts for this issue.

Insert three AAA batteries (Not Supplied) into the saucer section battery box. Use the new battery box cover (23C) that came with this issue and secure it using the silver screw (23E), picture 2.

Take the deck panel (23A) and fit the escape pod covers (23B) so the red line on each one is furthest away from the tapered end. Place 3 dark windows (23D) into the panel, picture 3.

Now carefully place the panel into position on the saucers skeleton and partially secure it in place with one of the BM screws as shown in picture 4.

Follow the illustration in picture 5 by first placing the two LED lights into the top of the reflector panel, circled in purple. Then place the BM screws as circled in green, and finally the EM screws circled in blue.

Now, using the battery box and the PCB board as before test the lighting, picture 6.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 24

Picture 1 shows the parts for this issue.

Retrieve the battle section neck assembly and position the left neck bracket (24I) on the underside as shown in picture 2. Place 3 x BM screws as circled in picture 3, and then place an FM screw as shown in picture 4. Picture 5 shows that assembly complete.

Take the deck panel (24A) and place the pod covers, dark and clear windows into the panel as you have done with previous panels. Picture 6 shows how the parts are positioned.

Place the reflector (24C) onto the panel inserting the LED with the yellow and black cable at the end into the side as shown in picture 7.

Note: You will also see in picture 7 that the three clear windows have not be placed in the panel. Please do so before attaching the next reflector.

Place the reflector, part (24B) on the panel, inserting the LED with the red and blue cable into the inner side, whilst the LED with the red and grey wire to the outer top side. Secure the reflector panel in place using 4 x EM screws as shown in picture 8. Test the lighting with the PCB with the battery plugged to socket “F”, picture 9.

Place the deck panel onto the saucer structure by carefully threading the cables through the frame as shown in pictures 10 and 11.

Turn the assembly over and secure the panel to the frame using 2 x BM screws.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 25

Take the deck panel (25A) and fit the escape pods, clear and dark window pieces as shown in the first picture. Next, place the reflector (25B) on the rear of the deck panel. Take the deck panel lights (25E) and plug the LED bulb with the yellow and white cable into the slot as illustrated in picture 2. Secure the panel using 3 x BP screws.

Thread the cable through the saucer skeleton as shown in picture 3, feeding the cable back through the saucer skeleton as shown in picture 4. Turn the assembly over and secure the panel using 2 x DP screws, picture 5. Picture 6 shows the panel in place on the frame.

Retrieve the battle section neck assembly and gather the cables neatly to the centre. I used some tape to hold them together, picture 7. Take the LED bulb with the yellow and green wire and place it into the slot in the left neck bracket, picture 8.

Position the right neck bracket (25G) onto the frame as you did with the left bracket, making sure the cables move freely between the two brackets. Secure the bottom part of the bracket with 3 x BM screws, picture 9, followed by an FM screw at the top, picture 10. Finally place an AM screw to the front side to complete the assembly, picture 11. Make sure you do not trap any of the cables when securing the assembly.

Picture 12 shows the complete assembly for this issue.
