Issue 3 Part 1

Left Spaulder

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

Retrieve the left spaulder assembly from the previous issue, along with outer passguard (3A), picture 2. Place the passguard onto the spaulder and secure it in place using 4 x BM screws as shown in pictures 3 and 4. Next, position the left lower spaulder from the previous issue, inside the left spaulder and secure it using 8 x BM screws, picture 5. Fit the left spaulder baseplate within the left spaulder, securing it using 5 x BM screws, picture 6.

Note the magazine says 8 screws, it should be only be 5 screws.

Picture 8 shows the complete assembly for part 1.

Issue 3 Part 2

Sword Hilt

Warning: Before we start with this section of this issue, I would recommend either placing some insulation tape to the underside of the electrical circuit board (3J) you place inside the hilt body. You could also use a small piece of cardboard as I have, as shown further down in this section. The reason for this is, the underside of the circuit board has the soldered points of the board, and these can come into contact with the metal body hilt frame, causing it to short circuit.

Picture 8 shows a piece of cardboard cut to fit in the base of the hilt body as explained above. Place the circuit board (3J) into the hilt frame (3C) and secure it in place using 2 x CM screws, picture 9. Feed the cable along the hilt body so the switch is in place as shown in picture 10.

Place the battery cover (3K) over the circuit board as shown in picture 11, then place the two LR44 batteries in place that came with this issue, picture 12.

Fit the battery compartment cover (3L) over the top of the assembly, making sure that the three pins fit into the corresponding holes in the circuit board, picture 13. Secure the battery compartment in place using 2 x CM screws, picture 14.

Test the LED light by pressing the switch.

That completes part 2 of this issue.

Issue 3 Part 3

Sword Hilt

Slip the hilt grip sections onto the hilt body. Start with (3C) followed by (3E), then (3I), (3H) and finally the pommel (3F), pictures 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.

Complete the hilt by placing the left (3B) and right (3D) cross-guards on the horizontal arms of the hilt, pictures 20 and 21.

Picture 22 shows the hilt painted to highlight the leather areas. This is something I did for myself and is not part of the build. If you are confident on doing something similar, then you do so at your own risk.

That completes part 3 of this issue.

Finally, take the poleyn ornament assembly and fit it into the top of the poleyn by pressing the tabs into the corresponding holes, picture 9.

Store the shoe and the heel away carefully.
