Issue 112 Part 1

Attaching Both Legs to the Torso.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

As I stated in the last issue, where you were instructed to attach the left leg to the torso, I said I would leave that part of the assembly so I could attach both legs at the same time.

Retrieve the torso and attach the two friction disks, with the grooves facing outwards, to the hip joint of the torso, picture 2. Take the left leg and insert it into the joint so that it covers the disk, picture 3. Using the TM screw, secure the leg, picture 4.

Now do the same with the right leg, securing it in place with a TM screw, picture 5.

Picture 6 shows the two legs and torso connected. Note: I have attached it to the base and holding rod.

That completes Part 1 of this issue.

Issue 112 Part 2

Assembling the Right Arm.

Fit the forearm back plate (112E) to the forearm front plate (112D) and attach it to the upper area of the forearm inner plate (112A), pictures 7, 8 and 9. Fit the upper plate detail (112G), picture 10, then the lower plate detail (112F) and the upper side round detail (112I), picture 11.

Attach the assembly to the arm assembly from issue 109 as shown in pictures 12 and 13.

Fit the round detail (112J), picture 14, then fit the blue detail (112C) in the two remaining holes, picture 15.

Fit the assembly to the arm as shown in the final picture 16.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 113

Right Arm.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

Fit the circular plate (113H), (113K) and lower plate (113B), pictures 2 and 3. Now fit the assembly to the outside of the arm, picture 4. Turn the arm over, and fit the arm lower plate (113D), picture 5.

Take the assembly from issue 111 and place two of the friction disks on both sides. Tip: I used a drop of glue to hold them in place. Now push the assembly into the joint of the right arm so the holes have aligned, pictures 6 and 7.

Insert the nut (113N) behind the right shoulder joint of the torso, picture 8. Place the other two friction disks onto the arm joint as shown in picture 9. Again, I used a spot of glue to hold them in place. Push the arm onto the shoulder joint so the holes align and secure it using bolt, spring washer and washer. You will need to use the wrench tool to tighten the bolt, picture 10.

Fit the lower inner plate (113F) into the hole in the rod on the inside of the right arm as shown in picture 11. Now fit the lower front plate (113E) into the two holes in 113F and fit the top of the 113E to the hexagonal bolt, picture 12. Finally fit the outer plate (113G) into the holes in 113F and the side hole in 107C as illustrated in picture 13. Picture 14 shows the outer plate in place.

Insert the upper rear arm cover (113J) matching its star shape with the profile of the hole, picture 15. Lastly, fit the upper front plate (113C) onto the half moon shape pin, picture 16.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 114 Part 1

Left and Right Arms.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

Press fit the shoulder covers (114E and 114F) onto the outside of the shoulder plate (114A), pictures 2, 3 and 4. Fix the inner shoulder plate (114B) on the other side, securing it with 2 x IP screws, pictures 5 and 6.

Push the lower external joint (114N) into the one of the connectors (114I), then push in a short pin (114V), pictures 7 and 8. Do the same with the upper external joint (114M). Insert the internal joint connector (114J) into the connectors 114I and join the three pieces using the long pin (114U). Finally fit the plate (114K) over the connectors, pictures 9 and 10.

Insert the assembly into the inner joint (114Q) and secure it using a QM screw, picture 11. Push this assembly into the slot on the inside of the shoulder plate assembly, picture 12.

Fit the shoulder plate to the right arm, slotting in the locating pin as shown in picture 13 and 14. You will need to rotate the arm up to secure the assembly in place using an AM screw, picture 15.

That completes the assembly for part 1 of this issue.

Issue 114 Part 2

Left and Right Arms.

Continuing from part 1, return the arm to its normal position and move the shoulder plate to attach the side plate (114W), picture 1.

As you did before, attach the two friction disks to the assembly from issue 68, whilst removing the side plate as shown in pictures 2 and 3.

Place the two friction disks on the left shoulder joint, picture 4, and as before push the left arm into position, making sure the holes align, pictures 5 and 6.

Insert the nut (114P) behind the right shoulder joint of the torso, picture 7 and secure it using the bolt, spring washer and washer. You will need to use the wrench tool to tighten the bolt, picture 8. Replace the side plate you removed earlier, picture 9. Insert the upper rear arm cover (114L), picture 10.

Fit the lower inner plate (114H) into the pins on the lower front arm plate (114G). I found that fitting these two parts first made fitting the assembly to the arm much easier, picture 11.

Fit the lower inner plate (114H) into the hole in the rod on the inside of the right arm as shown in picture 12. Fit the top of the 114G to the hexagonal bolt, picture 13. Finally fit the outer plate (114D) into the holes in 114G and the side hole in 65C as illustrated in pictures 14 and 15.

Picture 16 shows the completed assembly for this issue.

Issue 115 The Final Issue

Sword and the Head.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.
Press fit the sword blade (115E) onto the inside of the right side of the sword, picture 2. Then add the left side (115D) making sure the pins fit together firmly, picture 3.

Retrieve the head assembly and remove the helmet and both the sides using the plastic tool supplied with this issue, pictures 4 and 5.

Next, unscrew the battery lid and remove the batteries from the battery compartment. Replace the batteries into the alternative head, securing the battery lid using the two screws you removed earlier, pictures 6 and 7.

Add the mask (115B) to the new head structure (115A), then replace the two side panels and the helmet, picture 8. Push fit the head into the torso to complete Optimus Prime.

Picture 9 shows the two swords and the two blaster guns that you can add to the model if you want. I will be displaying Optimus Prime without any weapons.

Finally, the last pictures are of Optimus Prime complete standing on his base.

The next instalment will be very soon, where I will show you how to assemble the Premium Base with lighting for those who subscribed to this.

Once the Premium Base has been made, I will do some nice pictures showing him in all his glory in the Finished Build Log.

More soon.
