Assembling the Remote Control
Place the keypad (93-02) on the left side and (92-03) on the right side. These will only fit one way, picture 2.
Before inserting the circuit board inside the remote, make sure you have the right settings for the preferred language. Picture 3 shows the settings for the UK/US language. Please refer to the magazine for other settings.
Finally, place the circuit board inside the remote-control unit as shown in picture 4.

Retrieve the assembly from the last issue and fit the battery box as shown in picture 2. Secure this in place using 4 x P-TP screws and place two AA batteries inside as shown in picture 3.
Place the battery compartment cover on the battery box, picture 4.

The Left Foot and testing the Remote Control
If you haven’t done so already, place 6 x AA batteries into the ET base as shown in pictures 2 and 3.
Place ET head on temporarily, DO NOT PUSH FIT THIS IN PLACE, and connect the cable to the head as shown in pictures 4 and 5.
Turn on the power with the switch on the base and using the remote control, test ET.
Picture 6 shows the buttons to press to operate the different movements of the model.

Issue 97

Assembling the lower body to the feet.
Retrieve both the left and right feet from the previous issues.
Identify the right and left foot and which way around the lower body goes. The larger part of the body should face to the front. Test fit the parts before you start applying the glue.
I used a super glue with a brush adapter to apply these pieces together. I would strongly recommend gluing a small section at a time and hold the joint together until dry enough to move onto another section of the parts. This method is quite time consuming but will have great results when finished.
Pictures 2 and 3 show the legs being assembled to the lower body.
Pictures 4 and 5 show the two feet assembled to the lower body.

Issue 98

Disconnecting and Unlocking the Structure.
Push in the lower frame clamps, near the hip, to disassemble the body from the legs, but DO NOT pull off the body just yet. This will allow you to disconnect the cables much easier from the front and back as illustrated in picture 2. You'll probably need another pair of hands to help with this stage.
Note there are three cables to disconnect at the front and two at the back. If you haven’t already done so, it is advisable to mark the cables from where they came from on the circuit board to make it easier to identify when reconnecting them again.
DO NOT pull the cables out of the circuit board by pulling on the wires.
Now take out all 8 x PM screws from the left and right side of the lower structure to the legs, pictures 3 and 4. Picture 5 shows all the parts disassembled.
Reconnecting and Relocking the Structure
Place the lower body and legs as shown in picture 6. Replace the lower structure to the legs, pulling the cables back through, then replacing the 8 x PM screws, picture 7.
Place the body over the legs, but before pushing down the clamps, replace the three cables at the front of the circuit board and the two at the back of the circuit board, picture 8. Please refer to the illustration in picture 2.
When complete, push the lower clamps in place again.
