karl1113 wrote:hi stephen.yes it were me that put up that tip 'bout painting then wet & dry rub down,at this stage I used 600 grade WET,much easier to wipe down, and if continued by filling and painting you will get a glass like finish, so you have to determine how far to go,lovely job so far.well done. You're right Carl I think I saw it on your Black Pearl Build. since I started I might just as well go the distance and finish it properly

A quick update on where I got to over the weekend: After getting a fair bit of sanding done: I saw a couple of uneven spots and holes left by the removal of the nails and proceeded to fill them with wood-filler Now to sand some more

Gerrit: Quite a large amount of elbow grease, and there is still a little bit to do. Jonny, Hans, Mike: Thanks gentlemen- I trust that the effort will be well spent. That is the good (and the bad) thing about painting the hull - you can't stop until it's done. Tom: After seeing all the hulls that have been copper tiled, I would love to, but the tiles aren't offered in South Africa. I'll be painting unless I can convince 15 or so members to send me the tiles that they did not use
