Issue 114

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Fitting the Front and Bottom Left Pipes

Begin by push fitting on the left exhaust pipe (114B) through the hole in the wheel arch and onto the end of the left exhaust manifold as shown in picture 2 and 3.

In this next part, we assemble the bottom pipe that runs along the underside of the car and attached to the rear exhaust. As you will see, I have assembled this part, but this will need to be removed again when attaching the upper body to the main car assembly, so you may want to leave this off until then.

Attach the left exhaust pipe (114A) by pushing the pin into the front exhaust pipe and securing the rear end to the muffler using an AP screw. The exhaust pipe also has two pins that push fit into the holes in the underside of the body, pictures 4 and 5.

Finally, attach the muffler bottom (114C) but push fitting it onto the top muffler, picture 6.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 115

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Fitting the Front and Bottom Right Pipes

Begin by push fitting on the right exhaust pipe (115B) through the hole in the wheel arch and onto the end of the right exhaust manifold as shown in picture 2 and 3.

As stated in the previous assembly, we assemble the bottom pipe that runs along the underside of the car and attached to the rear exhaust. As you will see, I have assembled this part, but this will need to be removed again when attaching the upper body to the main car assembly, so you may want to leave this off until then.

Attach the right exhaust pipe (115A) by pushing the pin into the front exhaust pipe and securing the rear end to the muffler using an AP screw. The exhaust pipe also has two pins that push fit into the holes in the underside of the body, pictures 4 and 5.

Finally, attach the muffler bottom (115C) but push fitting it onto the top muffler, picture 6.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 116

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Fitting the Bracket

I would recommend using a soft blanket to rest the front panel on whilst working on the underside. This will prevent any scratches to the paintwork.

Using 2 x EM screws secure the front bracket (116B) to the underside of the front body as shown in pictures 2 and 3.

Keep the skirting panel and rear bracket safe until the next issue.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 117

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Fitting the Bracket and Fitting the Front Panel.

Note: I would recommend using a soft blanket to rest the front panel on whilst working on the underside. This will prevent any scratches to the paintwork. You may need to use another pair of hands when fitting the rear and front panels together. I also used some foam/styrene for the panels to rest on at each end of the car when working on the underside.

As with the previous issue, use 2 x EM screws to secure the front bracket (117B) to the underside of the front body as shown in picture 2 and 3.

This is where you will need another pair of hands. Attach the front and rear panels together by laying both panels down with the doors open on the rear panel. First, secure the two together using 3 x CM screws as shown in picture 4, then 1 x ALM screws on each of the side panel as shown in pictures 5 and 6.

Secure the right side of the skirting by placing 3 x CM screws by the wheel arch as shown in picture 7, and 2 x CM screws as shown in picture 8. Note: Be careful when attaching the skirting, making sure you fit it snug to the red lining on the outside of the car. Picture 9 shows the skirting in place.

Now do the same with the left-hand skirting, picture 10.

Using the black tape, provided in issue 105, tidy the cables as shown in pictures 11 and 12.

Remove the two screws as illustrated in picture 13 before attaching the left and right brackets. Note that you use CM screw on the side and a WM at the bottom, pictures 14 and 15.

That completes the assembly for this issue.

Issue 118

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Fitting the Parachutes, Licence Plate, Top Section and Antenna

Each parachute has an inner section which fits inside and secured by an EP screw. As you will see in picture 2, before fitting these to the back of the car, I decided to paint them to give them a more realistic canvass look. Only do this if you are confidant in painting the parts.

Attach these to the rear of the car using an EP screw for each parachute, picture 3.

Next, attach the licence plate using 2 x AM screws, pictures 4 and 5.

Retrieve the top section you made earlier in the build and attach it to the inside of the car, securing it using 4 x AM screws as shown in picture 6.

If you assembled the reflector and top part to the antenna, then disassemble these before placing the antenna base into the front of the car, securing with 2 x AM screws, picture 7.

Now turn the body to the up position and re-attach the reflector and top back onto the antenna, picture 8.

Picture 9 shows the assembly complete for this issue.

Fitting the Trunk Prop and Antenna.

Using an SM screw, fix the trunk prop outer cylinder (119E) to the prop base (119D), picture 2. Secure the assembly to the floor just behind the mobile computer using a CM screw, picture 3.

Using 2 x AM screws attach the trunk lock (119A) to the underside of the body frame, picture 4.

Turn the body over and push fit the antenna pedestal (119C) into the recess as shown in picture 5. Finally, attach the antenna (119C), picture 6.

Issue 120 Part 1

Picture 1 shows the contents of this issue.

Fitting the Afterburner and Combining the Body and Chassis.

Begin by unplugging the afterburner LED (57A) marked “J”. Push the LED bracket (120C), the clear lens, into the centre of the afterburner, picture 2. Insert the LED afterburner bulb into the LED bracket, picture 3.

Slide the afterburner outer (120B) over the cylindrical part of the body frame rear, picture 4. Push the assembly from step 1 into the end of the body frame, picture 5. Carefully turn the body over and using the sticky tape from issue 105, tidy the wiring, picture 6.

Preparing to combine the two halves together, I found it easier to have the top half on its side next to the bottom half. This allows you to attach the cables and test the lighting before completing the assembly.

Attach the front three cables together by using the colour of the wires and tags to match each one, pictures 7 and 8. Do the same with the five cables at the rear, picture 9. Once they have all been attached, I would advise you to test the circuit and LED at this stage before final assembly.

That completes the assembly for this part 1 of this stage.

Issue 120 Part 2

Combining the Body and Chassis.

Being very careful not to trap any of the cable, I would recommend folding any excess of the cables and applying some black sticky tape, then tuck the cables inside the bottom half. Place the top of the body onto the bottom body, making sure you do not trap any of the cables as you combine the two halves together.
Once the two halves are together, turn the assembly over so it shows the bottom of the car chassis. As I said previously, I used some styrene foam to rest the body on.

The next step tells you to remove the two muffler bottoms and remove the two screws on the top muffler. You only need to remove the screw to the long exhaust pipe, pictures 10 and 11. For those who followed my assembly in 114 and 115, I did recommend not fitting the exhaust pipes as these would have to be removed in this issue.

Using CM screws, place two at the front of the body as shown in pictures 12 and 13. Then place two more on either side of the chassis where the exhaust pipe lies, picture 14. Finally attach the last two CM screws at the rear of the chassis, pictures 15 and 16.

Re-attach the exhaust pipes and secure it in place using CM screw, picture 17. Push fit the muffler bottoms in place.

Turn the assembly over and attach the trunk inner cylinder (120D) into the trunk as shown in picture 18, using an SM screw to secure it in place.

Finally fit the bat phone from issue 1 in the cockpit.

That completes the assembly of the 1966 Batmobile. This has been a fun build.

I’ll leave you with a couple of finished pictures with more pictures in the Finished Gallery.
