Now for something completely different. I have recently built a workshop where I can keep all my laser and 3D printers on hand, rather than spend hours setting everything up when I want to use them. I have also bought some new updated equipment, so I decided to setup this new project to put the equipment to test.

I have designed the Tintin submarine for personal use, so I won’t be making available the model or files because of licencing issues. It is quite a complex model to CAD, and the model will be made with PLA as well as resin for the more detailed parts. I have also made the two figures, Tintin and Snowy to be inside the submarine.

Anyway, I decided to show my progress as a build log, just for something different. The first few pictures are of the files to be printed with a CAD generated picture of what it should look like once complete.

I have made a start over this weekend, printing off the eight body and cockpit parts. I have glued these together ready for sanding and then painting once they are smooth enough.

I have also made the instrument panel. I was going to print this in resin but thought I would test the multi colour option using the PLA printer. Considering how small this was, I thought it came out pretty well.

That’s it for now, more soon.

Absolutely amazing stuff Mark.
I wish I had gotten into 3D printing years ago.
It's amazing what you can do nowadays.
Looking forward to seeing this finished.
