Thanks Popeye,

Here are the latest pics, I am having to make the beakhead myself as the kit one is utter useless.
It is quite difficult with no planes but a couple of pics of the prototype to go off.

Thanks guys,
Sorry Rob, wish it was my figure head the kit one is rubbish, will need to make one. The picture is James Choi's excellent build. I was just showing a pic of what the actual A/L beakhead looks like. The smaller pics are mine the bigger pic in the middle is the jotika prototype.

Hi Again,
Here I have done a little more. Also this is the figure head a load of rubbish. Compaired to the one in the instructions pic on my previous post. I am thinking of replacing it with either a slightly smaller one or the same 65mm, here are both.
65mm
45mm

Hi,
Thanks Mike,Tom and Willz

This is my first attempt at using polymer clay(Sculpy). I have half made a new figure head. It looks better than the original already..Lol.

Hi Chris

Your model is certainly coming on well. Are you going to finish your figurehead as per the original Surprise or follow the version on the HMS Rose conversion for the film?

If you haven't already it is worth looking at the figurehead on the Jotika HMS Surprise where the goddess Athena is depicted as having a spear in her right hand and the head of the slain gorgon Medusa embossed on her shield in her left hand. These are the classic symbols of Athena.

The figurehead for the film was based on the painting of HMS Surprise which was used as the book cover for 'HMS Surprise' in the Patrick O'Brien series. In this painting she is shown holding a sword and the photograph of the ship in San Diego shows two seahorses as the device on the shield.

Just thought I would ask because it is not always clear which version the kits are based on and you are doing a lot of brilliant 'kit-bashing'

Thanks guys,

I've never done this bit before lol.

I am hopeing that mine slightly resembles the jotika prototype version, but mine is a little fatter to go with the times.. Haha..LOL LOL

Here are the pics of the finished sculpture, I am not sure wether to paint it in color like the Prototype of copper green. It still needs a spear makeing but thats not too hard to make.

Is it me or does mine look like voldemort. Lol

That looks an excelant bit of modeling, have you used a wire frame for the figure as i dont know how the clay would stand up over time as it can have a tendency of cracking, dont want to worry you.
This is why i'm going to use the green stuff which you can get from gameworkshop and sets solid.

But your build is very well done any follow it every week hopping for new updates, hopefully i might be able to get on with mine once i sorted out the little problems.

Keep up the good work BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin
