Thanks for the info Alan, it is what I suspected.

Having done the enhancement I prefer it to the ply formers, it means all my hull has had the Balsa treatment and the next row of planking will have a better fixing.

FORMING THE STERN.

Her rear is taking shape now, just a little more sanding to do with medium grade and finish with fine:-

Well my ship is all ready for the 2nd planking, alittle concerned that eaglemoss are showing 5x windows at the stern when there was only 4, the middle one on the original ship wae blanked off because the steering gear and rudder were situated behind it.

You all know what I will be doing!!BigGrin Cool

She is looking good and your use of balsa seems to be a lot easier than the bow formers supplies.
According to the book 'Anatomy of the Ship' by Karl Heinz Marquardt, the centre window was a dummy and to quote the book 'purely for aesthetic reasons'.
This book is a wealth of info and not least of all it has sketches of the Endeavour, made by the expeditions draughtsman, during Captain Cook's voyages

Its a great book Allan, and thank you for your kind comments.
I am really pleased that Eaglemoss delivered the formers late, because having used the balsa wood,I would do it all over again and BIN the ply formers, but thats my personal viewBigGrin Cool

ISSUE 42

The above arrived this morning with the Bow formers,It looks as though the bow formers will be supplied over 4 issues, and then there is the Stern? I think it is a shame Eaglemoss are milking this build for all its worth.
If you take away the magazine value(and that has to be worth somthing)we could be spending upwards of £40:00 for the formers.Confused

I can see many modellers cutting their losses on this build so far we have spent approx £250 (£5:99 x 42)to date and what have we got for that money?

I will continue with the build (I am not using the formers though)as I am enhancing it as I go along, and if newbies have purchased this model we can help them to finish the build, and not waste their hard earned cash.

Hi Mikeā€¦

You are well ahead of the issue release and it is looking excellent. Great work.
I see you have some problems with delivery of the Hood issues from the newsagents.
I had a problem with the Endeavour last week issue 40 did not arrive, so the news agent contacted the whole sale supply and the said, all copies had run out by the time they got to my area of the north west. So had to request a re order, still wait on this.

Best regards,
Ian
