Hi all im Clive and im new to this forum and to this side of my hobby.I have been building mostly large scale aircraft models ranging from modern jets to WW2 over the last 20 years , i run two model clubs one in London and the other here where i live in Godstone Surrey.I have been collecting the magazines every month by subscription to which i was going to give myself 6 months before i would start the model.I have been brousing some of the builds on here and i can see the excellence that is in all of your builds , i got me work cut out here Laugh .Well i look foward to joining in with you all and learning how to build my F1 McLaren here are a few pic's of what i have done .

The top three models are all 1/32 scale.

This F-16MLU is 1/72 scale.

And the Harrier GR7 is 1/48 scale.

This is a 1/35 Warrior.

This is a 1/24 VFS P-47D.

Here is my 1/32 F-4J Phantom.

Finally this is a 1/32 Tornado GR4 to which i have yet to finish along with all the other models i have started.

Hope its to your interest and i look foward to seeing all your finished builds.

BigGrin Hi Clive,

First off can I say a big fat WELCOME to this forum and it's always nice to have some new members to add input to this site. I hope that you enjoy being on here, we welcome any comments from you and hope that we can help you along with your McLaren build or anything else that you may need answers to and maybe you can help us too ??

Secondly can I say WOW !! You have some very nice models there, many thanks for posting up the pics and it certainly looks as though you are skilled enough to tackle anything that you might meet on here. Excellent stuff Clive well done and I look forward to seeing more - love the weathering by the way. Especially nice to have more of the aircraft side of things as there isn't enough of that on here methinks, so that is definitely a breath of fresh air !! ThumpUp

Thirdly can I say, how strange and weird is that ?? I posted a topic up earlier today called "Am I the only car on the grid ???", saying that we needed some new life on here and hey presto, up you pop and give us that much needed injection so can't fault your timing sir - brilliant !!! LOL LOL

I hope that you find many friends on here Clive and don't be afraid to ask, as there is always someone on here willing to help with the answers ... especially Tomick or Mr.T as we call him, he's the modelling guru on here as well as the builder of the model in the 'Official McLaren MP4/23 Build Diary'. A very helpful chap !! ThumpUp

Cheers ... Kev. BigGrin

BigGrin Hi Clive,

Another great photo of your Phantom I see, thanks for posting and an excellent job you have done there !!

Can't view the last picture in your first post, the one of your 1/32 Tornado GR.4 ?? Are you uploading from Photobucket using the img code as sometimes it won't show if you have done that, but are also inserting it between the img brackets available on the 'add image' function at the top of the forum posting window ?? Hope you understand what I mean ?? Basically an img code within an img code which prevents the image appearing ?? Would love to see the photo if you could sort it as the Gr.4 is one of my all time favourites !!

Hi Kev lets see if this works

Tornado GR4

In this pic my model of the Tornado is shadowed by my model of a 1/18 MH-60G Pave Hawk.

Here is a pic of my 1/18 F-14A Tomcat as it was then ,also muggins is in the pic aswell.

And how she looks now.

Our London model club stand at the RAF Hendon show this year with my F-14A in the foreground.

BigGrin Hi Clive,

Thanks for that, the photo has come through fine now. The Tornado looks like it is modelled on a machine from 31 Sqdn Raf Marham or am I mistaken ??

A very impressive model of the Tomcat you have there Clive, great job on the weathering and panel lines, it must have been a real challenge to build, is it the Tamiya 1/32 kit ?? I have to say that you are quite an accomplished modeller by the looks of your work mate ?? Good stuff well done !! ThumpUp

Your club looks to be well subscribed with some skilled modellers and some great models on display. Particularly like the 1:1 scale Canberra in the background !! LOL LOL

I have in my stash what is quoted as being the largest plastic model aircraft ever produced. Namely the Revell 1/48 Rockwell B-1B Lancer - just over 3ft long!! - plus all the Eduard PE sets (interior, exterior and engine exhaust upgrades), some white metal undercarriage upgrades, aftermarket decal options, etc. Hope to build it one day, though I don't know where I will put it !!! Where do you store that huge Tomcat ??

Great to have you and your aircraft on board here Clive and look forward to chatting some more.

Cheers ... Kev. BigGrin

Snap..it amazes me that these were used in WW2 with such success,my hat goes off to the pilots & observers who flew them especially on arctic convoys.
