i think the working stand is a ply frame that the hull stands on, larger than a display stand

Simply put, it's a stand to sit your model on while working on it. Later you will it on a display stand.

Each build comes to the point where you need to support the keel to keep it upright while you work. I use a nice piece of polystyrene foam packing that you get with electrical equipment and the such. Cut a groove or larger shape with a sharp knife to support the boat and Roberts your mothers brother! You then have somewhere to safely keep knives, pencils etc as well.
