The real Yamato has a deck edge border/gutter plank which I opted to have, rather than just planking a bow and stern deck border and later planking up to the hull edge as per the instructions.

I simply used some of the decking planking to create a deck edge border which is set 2mm in from the hull edge along both sides of the hull.

The bow border plank butts up to the deck plate and the stern border plank follows the line of the flight deck.

The outside facing edge of each strip is painted grey

I will later add a spray screen to the front of the bow & stern border plank.

The airdeck stips are brass plate which need to be cut to length, primed and painted.
I've seen a few different colour references for the strips, ranging from beige, grey and a red-brown, the latter of which is a per the Kure Museum Yamato, so I've gone with that.

The two gun bases were peviously painted and the strips are located 4mm away from the inner-most rail.

The AA guns will be added to the gun bases later on.

Anchor chains added, the chain needs to be cut to length and secured into place as shown in the steps, I used PVA which dries clear and hangs onto the chain.

Yamato decking, the steps show the decking to be alternately laid in 100mm and 50mm long plank lengths, though in reality it is more likely a 3 of 4 staggerd butt that was the case, and the deck planks not as wide.

Mark the deck with 100mm and 50mm lines from the forward deck edge, then lay the 100mm long centre line plank, and lay alternate 50mm and 100mm long planks.

This process will be repeated the full length of the deck and deck edge planks shaped to fit the deck profile.

I plan to lay the forward deck section and then add the forward detail before progressing the decking towards the stern.
